Talk about...

Boys r us wrote: Growing up fast.....I am turning 30 and buying a minivan all in the same week!!!!!!

I had one a couple of years ago,but never drove it on a regular basis..I was supposed to sell my previous car..but kept right on driving it and never could swallow my pride enough to drive the van,s o we sold it. But with #3 coming along in a couple of months, well...we either had to do the mini-van or an SUV with a 3rd row. I tried to be adult about it and truly weigh the pros/cons. I decided that the SUV's that have the 3rd row are so big that I woudl spend a fortune in gas...plus they don't have the mommy-friendly features like minivans do..like doors that open with a remote control etc etc etc.

So..we've settled on a Toyota Sienna..which I might add is a very yuppy looking minivan as far as minivans go!! It's the limited edition, so it's fully loaded with heated leather seats, DVD for the kids, back seats that fold up into the floor board, nice wheels, wood trim, sunroof, front and rear sensors for when you're getting close to hitting something...etc etc
So..my dh was a little miffed that I wouldn't settle for a less expensive mini-van..but like I told him..I'm not the one pushing the issue, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new VW Passat and it kills me to get rid of it b/c it's just me and it has all of the bells and whistles and if I had to I'd manage all 3 kids in the back seat of it. KWIM..sure a minivan would be nice for the extra room, but I would keep my VW before settling for a blahhh boring minivan! So, he finally agreed and we narrowed it down to the Honda Odyssey or the Toyota Sienna. He took today off to compare deals etc..so looks like tomorrow, I'll be the proud new owner of a "salsa red" Toyota Sienna. yee haw.....Someone wake me up from this grown up nightmare!!!

C&K*s Mommie replied: Congrats on becoming the new owner of a mini-van. I like the Sienna's and the Quest by Nissan.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: thumb.gif That sounds awesome! I do like the Siennas too! Just take it from the owner of a 'Victory Red' vehicle-keep it on cruise control- laugh.gif ESPECIALLY on exit ramps rolling_smile.gif

luvmykids replied: I have the same mixed feelings about a mini-van but have to admit, the remote open doors are starting to look really good ....

I'm sure it will be sooner rather than later that I'll give up my pride and get one too. Congrats on getting the limited edition, those are soooo nice! thumb.gif

Brias3 replied: Congrats! The Siennas look nice. I've been eyeing the Honda Odyssey myself. I can't stand my Escalade anymore. I don't know if I can actually make the transition yet to "mini-van" status but like you mentioned, the room in those can't be beat! My kids are acting like they're in something the size of a VW right now already so looks like my SUV days might be ending soon too laugh.gif

TheOaf66 replied: I said the same thing last year...welcome to the age of having a "loser cruiser"

Kaitlin'smom replied: Welcome to club 30 laugh.gif

Boys r us replied: rolling_smile.gif OMG I'm laughing SOOO HARD..a loser Cruiser!! LOL I CANNOT let my DH read that!

jcc64 replied: I would KILL for a Sienna. Trust me, Nichole- the 3rd kid totally justifies it. Just try taking one of your kids' friends along for a family outing without the 3rd row of seats. The Sienna is the only minivan with 4WD (essential for us up here in the mtn of upstate NY)- my total dream car (loser image not withstanding)- but the price tag is a deal breaker. (over 30K). We don't carry car payments in this house- the only responsible thing we do financially.

redchief replied: Two words: Chevrolet Tahoe.

ROFL, congrats on the new wheels, yuppie!  justjoking.gif  Couldn't help myself.

(omg..I meant to hit quote and hit edit..lol..sorry!)

MommyToAshley replied: I must be the real loser here because I actually WANT a mini-van. blush.gif When I take Ashley to preschool, there's a whole line of mini-vans waiting to pick up their kids and then there's me in the one and only car there. Although I love my Grand Prix, it's a two-door and a pain to get Ashley and all her stuff in and out of it. So, I am jealous of the mini-van drivers. DH is not quite as anxious as I am to get a mini-van though.

Congrats!

gr33n3y3z replied: Congrats Nichole thumb.gif

luvmykids replied:
Thats good to know, we have very snowy winters and that is a big part of why I've held off on a van, I had no idea the Sienna had 4wd option thumb.gif

Boys r us replied:

Ed, we have an 04 tahoe z71..love it..in fact my DH is grumpy that I wouldn't let him get me a cheaper minivan b/c he's dying for the new tahoe but I got some words for YOU..lol : GAS GUZZLER!

Plus my Sienna has options that obviously the MAN who created the Tahoe didn't think of!!!!! Only a mommy would!! LOL

Boo&BugsMom replied: If it makes you feel any better, we only have one child and we have a minivan! blush.gif We know we want more kids, plus, with traveling up north to visit the in-laws all the time, it was worth it to us. Not to say though that I liked the stigma attached to having one. I use to swear to one of my best friends that I would never get one...I ate my words I guess. blush.gif Now we're proud owners of an amethyst Plymouth Voyageur SC!
