Taking kids to the movies
HuskerMom wrote: How old were your kids the first time you took them to the movies? Since Dh works on Christmas eve Keith and I are going to the movies with Dh's parents. I'm kind of curious to see what Keith will think of it or if he'll even sit still. We're going to see the Chipmunk movie. He might sit still through most of it, he sits on my lap through whole episodes of Family Guy. How were your kids the first time?
DillsMommy replied: "Cars" was the first movie we took Dylan to see. I don't remember when it came out though, so I guess I'm not much help. I'm thinking it was last summer, so he would have been 4. He loved it and sat through the whole thing--but he's always been a big movie watcher anyways.
luvmykids replied: I think it was around three for the twins, and Macie was one. She was a little squirmy but not so bad we had to leave or anything.
Calimama replied: I just took her to see Alvin and the Chipmunks! She sat there the entire time, in fact, I had to go to the bathroom and as I dragged her out of the movie she was saying NO NO NO OH MAMA NOOOOOO the entire time.
Anthony275 replied: hahaha keith watches family guy? you're one of the most awesome parents i know seriously
luvmykids replied: How cute!
My mom wants to take the kids to see that, how was it?
Calimama replied: I liked it!! They are soooo cute, and their voices captivated Miabella.
DillsMommy replied: I want to see it. I remember watching the cartoon chipmunks growing up. I was seriously in love with Alvin.
stella6979 replied: Avery is 20 months and we took her to her first movie last weekend. We saw A Bee Movie.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Brooke & Madison have both been to several movies, and it's been a mix of both cartoons and children-oriented non-cartoon movies. They've both been excellent and sat through all of them without complaint. We're actually hoping to go see Chipmunks this weekend.
Brooke loves Family Guy - especially Brian. She watches the Family Guy movie about once a week.
Brias3 replied: Depends on the kid. Ryan I think we took at about 2 or so, Aliyah was always great- at 18-months, we took her to the OPERA in Shanghai, and Mason? Well, Mason still doesn't sit through a movie in the theater very well
I'd say given the movie you're seeing and the fact that he's content during TV shows, you'll probably be just fine with him. Usually, a short trip outside the theater midpoint does the trick to kind of get the restlessness out too.
CantWait replied: Robbie was a year old, and he was fine. His first movie was Barney.
Anthony on the other hand, we had to keep a lot of candy, and popcorn on hand to keep him quiet. His first movie was on his second birthday, and I can't even recall what it was.
HuskerMom replied: Family Guy and King of the Hill are his two favorite shows.
MoonMama replied: I know I wont be able to take Braedin to the movies for a LONG time. The only time he is still and not running all over the place into EVERYTHING is when he is asleep. He's one of those SUPER SUPER SUPER energetic kids.
Nina J replied: My local movies has 'Cry Baby' sessions, where you can take your babies. They keep the lights on so if your kids want to move around you can see them. Anyone who goes to those sessions goes knowing that there will be talking kids, crying babies and breastfeeding mothers. Its good because no one can go and then complain to the mums and dads about the kids So, we've been going to the movies for I can't remember how long
And, I am pretty good at blocking out the kids noises so I get to see movies I want. Emily likes to watch pretty much any movie, but Odessa and Aysun are a bit young.
MommyToAshley replied: I don't remember, but I think Ashley was around 3. She's not the type of person to sit down and watch TV and doesn't even watch a 30-minute show from beginning to end (let alone a whole movie), and she sat through the entire movie. There's just something about the big screen, I guess. She's been to the movies quite a few times now -- she usually goes with DH.
Have fun -- I hope both of you enjoy the movie!
mom21kid2dogs replied: We took Olivia when she was less than a week old to Remember the Titans because I was dying to see it and was on bedrest and couldn't go til after she was born. She was great!
I really don't recall when we took her to the movies as a child but it was around 4ish. She has never been particularly captivated by either TV or sitting so she still (at 7) is fairly wiggly even if she likes it. I do recall at a younger age being fairly concerned about the loudness of the movies so we've probably only seen maybe 10 at a theatre with her. I'd say go fo it as long as you can bear the thought of missing part to take a "walk break" in the halls!
That "cry Baby" idea is seriously great!!!! How nice that they offer that.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Tanner was 4. He saw Over The Hedge. He did really great.
