Taking Katherine to the opthamalogist on the 11th
kit_kats_mom wrote: I have noticed that she gets that "white eye" in pictures. She almost always has red eyes in the pictures that I take at home since we have such low lighting but the white eye (reflecting like a cats sorta) can be a sign of some sort of eye tumor. I'd noticed the white eye before but it was usually only in one picture from a batch. I noticed it in a bunch of pictures that I took last week though. I went back and checked and all of the times I"ve seen it, it's been in her left eye.
I'm sure it's just the angle or something but I'm taking her to be seen anyway. Apparently, even if it is the cancer it can be taken care of as long as it's caught early and doesnt' spread. Anyway, just asking for some prayers and PT's for my little babe. I'm not sure how she will handle the exam. And if you've got any to spare, maybe a few for my peace of mind. This is the kind of stuff that keeps me up at night even when I know it's probably nothing.
Insanemomof3 replied: I hope that it is nothing. I will keep her in my thoughts!!!!
My3LilMonkeys replied: I will give you as many P & PTs as I can spare. That is the kind of thing that would keep me up too.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: Oh No! Well here are some PT&Ps for the both of you. I'm sure it's nothing, but it's better to have her checked out for your peace of mind. I know I would.
jdkjd replied: Goodness! Hopefully it's nothing, but it can't hurt to have her eyes checked out.
PPTs!!
A&A'smommy replied: OH goodness, I'm sure she is fine but I'm sending you guys LOTS of P&PT'S
3_call_me_mama replied: She's in my thoughts and prayers. Hoping that it is nothing but will keep a prayer going for her!
ediep replied: I am sure she'll be great! Jay has been to a few opth appointments and he enjoys reading the eye chart.
sending P&PT for you and K!!
DansMom replied: I hope it's nothing, Cary! Good to get checked out to be on the safe side though. Keep us posted!
kimberley replied: p&pt your way. i am sure it is just the lighting but it is better to be safe then sorry. pls keep us posted.
coasterqueen replied: I agree, I hope it's nothing too. Definitely good that you are getting it checked out.
jcc64 replied: Oh Cary, that's scary. I remember learning about that thing years back and obsessively checking the kids' pics. I'm sure that's not what's going on with her, but I will keep her in my thoughts nonetheless. We've dealt with pediatric opthamologists before- Noah was suspected of having strabismus as a baby, which he did not. If the dr is good with kids, she'll probably end up thinking it's kind of fun. And of course, there's always bribery (Noah made out like a bandit when he went for the brain MRI a few months ago). Try not to worry, hon, I'm sure it's nothing.
Cary, what's the name of the thing you're worried she has? I'll ask my brother about it when I see him in a few days.
MommyToAshley replied: I heard the same thing a few years back and always check Ashley's pictures as well. I agree it could just be the lighting, but it's always good to be safe. Sending lots of p&pt's, please keep us updated.
kit_kats_mom replied: It's something like Retinoblastinoma. I saw something about it on Oprah or some talk show years ago. Basically, the reflection is really a picture of the tumor. One family had lost their child to the cancer when it was not recognized and it got in his brain. After doing some research, the chances of it being anything are pretty slim. It's somewhat rare. But I'll feel better getting her checked out anyway.
