Swing jackets

coasterqueen wrote: Swing/sway - I've heard those cute little crop jackets called many things. Just wondering if anyone else think they are cute? I bought one at Von Maur today to go with a black dress I wear to work. I want to wear it in the fall so I needed some kind of jacket and thought the swing jacket might dress it up a bit more.

I'm kind of hit or miss on them. I bought a "swing" type sweater the other day and I look like I'm a bit pg in it since they are big.

Very cute, though.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Are you talking about the empire waist jackets? The ones that most of the time come in 3/4 sleeves? Sorta 1950's style? If so, I like them a lot! Show pics!

grapfruit replied: I don't know what you're talking about. sad.gif Pictures?? happy.gif

coasterqueen replied: This isn't the one I got. I got a black and white houndstooth one to go with my black dress. I hope to find matching shoes somewhere so it will spice up the dress some.

Here's a picture of one, though

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Yep, that's what I thought you were talking about! I LOVE THEM!! So cute! I bet your houndstooth one is great!

The only thing I worry about is whether they are strictly for fashion to wear only indoors (like your office) or whether they will actually keep you warm when outside. It gets so dang cold here in fall and winter that I can't see myself wearing something that doesn't come to my knees rolleyes.gif ...But I have seen people wear long sleeve shirts under them, with the sleeves sticking out and I thought it was really cute. So I may have to try it! Where's the one in the picture from...I like it!

coasterqueen replied:
I found two that are more "casual" that would look very cute with jeans and if I get them I'm going to wear them with long sleeve shirts under them - probably long sleeve shirts with longer torso length - kwim? Just so it gives that slimming look. I need that. blush.gif As far as just wearing as a regular coat - hmmm, I wouldn't think so. Maybe for fall you could get away with that, though.

coasterqueen replied: The one I pictured would even look great with a thick turtleneck under it - which would be warmer for outside. thumb.gif

luvmykids replied: Very cute thumb.gif I have a Fair Isle type sweater in the same shape, it hasn't been cold enough yet but it looks really cute with a long sleeved turtle neck under it biggrin.gif

CantWait replied: I love them, but you definetly have to have the body for it (no worries for you there Karen). I've seen some that are warmer also.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Those are so cute. I've tried some of the nicer, suit-like ones on and they did not look right on me. It might be b/c I never wear suits and just didn't feel comfortable in them, but I noticed Target has some that are sweaters that are really cute and more casual. I've thought about trying something like that. I really love the style and the cut.

You'll have to post a pic. I bet it looks great with your new hair cut. thumb.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: I could never pull that look off. Its kinda cute, not sure if I like them.

coasterqueen replied: I won't lie to you - I definitely look a bit heavier in them. blush.gif They are more cuter/stylish suit jackets than regular ones though and since I wear a lot of suits in the fall/winter this is a better option right now. smile.gif

I bought Kylie a sweater one to go over her flower girl dress and she looked adorable in it!
