Stretch marks - Does anything work?

luvmykids wrote: I know it's part of the deal, and mine never bothered me before but now they do. I only have a few little ones here and there, but is there anything you can do about them? Or is it too late? They're the kind that are skin color but kinda shiny, kwim?

PrairieMom replied: I have them BAD on my belly butt and hips. They were all from The Boy. dry.gif I haven't found anything that works.

BabyOwen427 replied: Dead sea salts. Rub the salts on after your shower and rinse off. It doesn't make them disappear, but it makes them less visable. It also worked for my c/s scar. I do it about once a month cause it burns if I do it too often, I have super sensitive skin.

A&A'smommy replied: I use Palmer's coco butter and it helps if I use it consistently and they don't get darker they would just go away quicker If I would keep using it... :rolleyes

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Abstinence??? It may be a little late for you there rolling_smile.gif emlaugh.gif rolling_smile.gif emlaugh.gif

Tanning makes mine look less visible. But I have said before I really like mine wacko.gif I look at them like badges of a long won battle wink.gif wub.gif baby.gif

Where is that one smilie when I need it? laugh.gif tongue.gif rolling_smile.gif

I don't really know why it's bugging me now, it never has before, last year DH was kind enough to point out that they showed in my bathing suit and I didn't care. I guess they're getting shinier or something laugh.gif

punkeemunkee'smom replied: LMAO! Well you know what I would have replied to that comment....OK I can't post it but I will PM it to ya! rolling_smile.gif

Cece00 replied: There is no way to get rid of them for good. They are a type of scar. Well, except for surgery (laser or tummy tuck...) and I think I've heard you can use Retin A, but that requires a prescription. Even then, I think it just lessens the appearance.

I, personally, havent found anything that works, and I've tried cocoa butter, etc.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Hmmmm...I'm not sure.
I was lucky enough not to get any stretch marks

I think Dee Dee posted something about some prescription stuff her doctor recommended.

lovemy2 replied: Mine were all "below" the belt from Olivia but with Dylan they creeped up a bit - I remember the first one I got with Olivia - I screamed bloody murder when I saw it in the mirror - DH came running thinking something happened and when I told him he just said Oh and walked away.....

lisar replied: I dont have stretch marks and I say its because I used the palmers cocoa butter, the lotion and oil every single day while I was pg with both kids. There was never a day that I didnt use it. And I think thats why I didnt get any stretch marks.

coasterqueen replied: I hear Mederma and saran wrap works wonders. I haven't tried it yet, though. I've tried Mederma, but never stuck with it. I bought some again and I'm buying saran wrap this weekend. laugh.gif

luvbug00 replied: i've tried almost everything but my bum still looks like a railroad map dry.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: I have some refine strech marks stuff from Avon, it was ehlping them when I used it, but iHave not been using it. I should just to make them less noticable but they wont ever go away.
