Still sick

coasterqueen wrote: Well Kylie's fever spiked to 102.7 ohmy.gif late last night so Dh thought it was best for us to take her to the ped today to be sure she didn't have any infections that needed medicated. Poor baby. sad.gif She's had these high fevers since Wednesday night although it hasn't gotten as high as the one last night. That one freaked DH and I out. Maybe it's because Kylie has only had a high fever like that one other time, who knows. rolleyes.gif

Doc looked at her tonsils and said they were huge, inflamed and gross pussy stuff on them. I was a bit shocked because she doesn't act like they are bothering her...just the fever. Her nodes are also pretty swollen he said. So he gave us an antibiotic to give her because he's concerned about her having these fevers for more than a few days now. sad.gif

I sure hope she feels better soon. When her fever spikes she gets really lethargic, it's horrible. Of course I'm not sleeping at all because she's not sleeping well. wacko.gif

I just hope and I know this sounds selfish, but I just hope DH and I don't get it. If Dh gets it who's going to cook the family Christmas dinner? I can't. sad.gif If I get sick...ugh I'm going to be freaking out about this lil one inside of me. Doc said I would be fine as long as my fever doesn't spike up that high. So I'm praying we don't get it too.

What really irks me is dozens of kids in our school system is out because of the flu including my boss' kids. Do you know what his wife did though? She felt bad because one of her boys was going to miss his Christmas party at school so she let him go even though he was sick with the flu. mad.gif HELLO?????? Do we really need to spread it to others as well??? mad.gif Why are people like that? I didn't let Kylie go to her last swim class last night even though her fever was under control and she felt fine because I didn't want her passing it on to everyone else. For gosh sakes Christmas is right around the corner!

Dh was the same way after the doc appt. He wanted us all to go out for lunch. I was like "uh no I'm going to do everyone else in the world a favor and keep my sick child away from them!". mad.gif mad.gif

Maybe I'm over-reacting but I know if the one particular mother at our daycare would have kept her child home when he was sick...my daughter wouldn't be sick now. mad.gif mad.gif dry.gif

A&A'smommy replied: GRRRR that is SOO selfish and inconsiderate!!!!! I hope that you and your dh don't get it and that kylie gets better soon!!!

mammag replied: On behalf of moms everywhere....I thank you!!! I wish more people were as considerate as you and there would be a lot less things going around.

Hope she feels better soon and you guys stay healthy!

Josie83 replied: Ugh I'm sorry she's no better. Its the last thing u need! Ur not being selfish hoping not to get it at all. I hope you stay well too. Well done for thinking of others and keeping her home until she's better. Send her get well wishes from us all! xx

ediep replied: oh no!! Poor Kylie, I sure hope those meds kick in soon! I am such a germa-phob and it really irks me to hear that your boss sent her kid to school for a party when he had the flu...and the lady who sent her son to Kylies daycare when he was sick....blech!!!

mummy2girls replied: Ohhh Poor kylie! I hope she feels better soon and that infection goes away!

That irks me too! Being a single mom i rely on the daycare so for moms to bring sick kids in that almost always spreads to jenna it just irks me!!!!!!!

MommyToAshley replied: Poor Kylie! I hope the meds kick in and she starts feeling better.

Sending Get Well vibes for Kylie!
And
Stay Well vibes for you and Ryan!

jcc64 replied: Was away for the w/e, coming late to this. How's she doing, Karen? Did they do a throat culture?
Ita about the selfish parents with sick kids thing. Wait till she's in school if you think it's bad now. I know SEVERAL parents who load their feverish kids up with tylenol and shove 'em up on that bus, come hell or high water. And I'm not talking about people who are desperately fearing for their jobs if they had to take a day off to care for their child. Totally infuriates me. Dh planned a big 40th b-day party for me for months, and b/c my SIL "shared" her kids' stomach virus, Noah, Corey, and myself were all sick and barfing for the party. mad.gif

coasterqueen replied:
OMG! What a (&%#* SIL!!! mad.gif Sorry she did that. sad.gif

Kylie's doing much better today. Although today is the first time since Wednesday that she hasn't had a fever. dry.gif So at least it appears she will be able to go to daycare tomorrow because she hasn't had one all day and she's been on antibiotics since Friday. She's still pretty cranky though, but we'll get through it. happy.gif It's funny because the temp was the only thing that appeared to bother her, except she did have a bit of raspy-ness when she slept but I guess the antib. is taking care of that. So HOPEFULLY she's the only one with it and none of us get it w/the holidays coming up.

Thanks for asking wink.gif. grouphug.gif

A&A'smommy replied: Oh I'm glad she is getting better!!!! How you feeling? Good I'm hoping!!

paradisemommy replied: So happy to hear kylie is doing better..she sounds just like taven when he gets sick - usually i only know by his temp skyrocketing..in fact at his 2 year appt (i think) they ended up giving me antibiotics for him cause they told me he had an ear infection (his first) but he never once tugged at his ears or was acting fussy or anything..

anyways...hooray for kylie and what a trooper!!! glad you guys didn't get it either..talk about REALLY BAD timing to get sick!!! wub.gif

DansMom replied: Wow, that sounds like a doozie of a virus/infection. ITA about the intentional exposure thing too---it's crazy! People come to work sick, and then we have a mass contagion. This year we finally made a policy that we will send people home if they show signs of flu (in the past, we didn't think we could make people go home). I'm glad Kylie's fever is down! And hope you guys don't get it.

gr82bme replied: oh no... awwww
