Stay at home moms.... - how do you do it?
Twelve Volt Man wrote: Holy cow! My wife is a teacher and has returned to school. I am off today, so I decided to keep Sam, our three month-old son, instead of sending him to the sitter. I've kept him before, but never all day, all by myself. This kid is wearing me out! He has been fussy all day, hasn't napped well, and has pooped all over himself THREE DIFFERENT TIMES! He is now in his fourth outfit for the day. I had to run to the bank, which turned out to be the best thing I could've done. As soon as we got in the car, he fell right asleep. When I got home, I just brought him in, still strapped in the carseat, and he is still snoozing. Now, I'm working on dinner. In a few minutes, if he stays asleep, I'll be folding the laundry that I had to do, after he nastied up his clothes. I miss my wife right now! Anyway, my hat is off to all you stay at home mom's!
A&A'smommy replied: I have to say it is definitely hard!!! Good luck I hope your day goes smoothly!!
moped replied: LOL - you just do what you gotta do I guess - and everyday gets easier. If you were home with him every signle it would be different!
HuskerMom replied: It's never boring but it's the best job in the world!
TheOaf66 replied: I know exactly how you feel TVM, I can't say I am looking forward to that part when Jennie goes to work at night. Hang in there it gets better
Mommy2Isabella replied:
Somedays I think ... I would LOVE A JOB. But then Isabella says Mama or Takes her first step or something ... its so worth it.
Like Jen said, if you stayed with him everyday it would be diffrent, you would know his routine, and you would have a schedule!
Mommy2BAK replied: hahaha, wow... I'm gonna make my husband read this!
He just doesn't understand how "sitting around the house all day" could ever be too hard.
Crystalina replied: I really enjoy it. I enjoy alot more now that my kids are out of the diaper and pooping everywhere stage. I always want a break but then when I get one (when dh takes them somewhere) I feel like I should be doing something. Last year when Izabella first started Kindergarten I went nuts!
Calimama replied: I love it, Bella is on a pretty good schedule and a bit older so it's nice.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: What you mean you can't have a 'come to Jesus meeting' with him too? It is an awesome job and ITA with M2I there are days when the office sounds so nice but then they do something that makes all the toys on the livingroom floor or the begging for the 50th popcicle of the day all worth while!
Twelve Volt Man replied: Well, Sam and I survived each other! He ended up taking a great nap, which gave me a chance to relax a bit. He woke up happy, and we spent a long time playing. In the end, we had a lot of fun, but this morning was miserable. Mom is now home, and all is well.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I can only survive if I plan out my day. Just like you posted, I have to figure when they will nap and plan that this will be the time I can get some things done. If they don't, all you know what breaks lose. Also, we have to be out of the house by an exact time each day, tire them out, eat lunch on schedule, etc. I know it sounds pretty rigid, but it seriously makes the day go smoother for ALL of us. It's the unpredictable days that really throw me for a loop!
Thanks for the shout out!
holley79 replied: You go Mr Mom!!!!
moped replied: Oh and I never veer off from his schedule on anything - so that helps too
I mean it helps Tom!
luvmykids replied: ROFL same story here!
It's nice of you to acknowledge the work in staying home, TVM. Thank you.
redplaydoh replied:
ITA.....!!!
The best thing you can do is remember this day and remind your wife often how much she is appreciated doing a hard (but rewarding) job!
Just wait until he's mobile, crawling from room to room getting into everything he shouldn't and watch him for a whole day again. It will make this day look like a piece of cake.
lovemy2 replied:
Good Boy TVM - giving such big kudos to your wife - if I give you my phone number will you call my DH You know talk to him cop to cop You two must speak the same language or something right
my2monkeyboys replied: Once they start crawling/walking, it takes on a whole new set of rules! You really have NO time to sit down to eat lunch, much less watch tv or something. It's a constant, never-ending, stressful, energy-sucking job... and the best in the world! Now that Will is almost 5 it's getting a little easier, except that he wants me to "watch" everything he does, including jumping off his bed like spiderman for the 400th time! At least I can pee without him now, though! Glad to see you giving your wife praises for a job a lot of people consider the 'lazy woman's' job!
ETA: Of course, those are only the ones who haven't done it before!
TheOaf66 replied: glad you made it through TVM
