Star Wars Review... - dissapointed...

guertin31 wrote: I know most who read these posts are moms who could not care about this movie, so I'll keep this post short.

I always seem to spoil things for myself. I read the book last month and was so excited to see the movie. The book dialog, plot, story and key lines were so captivating that everytime I had a free moment I would re-read it...The movie was just not the same as the book... It felt rushed and the main lines were not even used... So I was disapointed... sad.gif

I saw the movie at the midnight show and I felt like the biggest doRk.. Here I am, a 31 year old dad trying to stay awake cause my bed time is now 9:30PM and I was 1 hour past it... (my son set my bed time) I was alone... online... surrounded by hundrends of young star wars fans with energy, youth and light sabers. But I had my cell phone with the picture of my son.. So I was content... wink.gif

But out of the first 2 prequells, this was by far the best... As far as for children, I told my sister in law to take my 8 year old to see it. It was not bad at all...

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: you are never supposed to read books before seeing movies!! It always ruins them, movies can never live up to the books. My 9:00 bedtime would never have alloud me to go to the midnight show, I did with episodes 1 and 2 but I was young then smile.gif
Glad to hear it was good, though sorry it was dissapointing from the book.

mom2tripp replied:
I've never found this to be untrue--books always win over the movies. I'm sorry that you stayed up that late for a dud---I probably could have predicted it though--after the first one that I loved when I was little they were all downhill from there!

5littleladies replied: I'm sorry you were dissapointed. I wasn't, but I didn't have too high of expectations of it though. My only dissapointment was in our personal experience. Not 90 seconds from the end of the movie the film reel fell off the projector. ohmy.gif Imagine being in a theatre at 2 o'clock in the morning with a bunch of angry Star Wars fans. It was interesting that's for sure. Anyways, they gave us refund tickets and then herded us into another theatre where they showed us the rest of the movie. We didn't get home until 4 a.m. rolleyes.gif Let's just say I'll never forget it. happy.gif

It was the best of the prequells that's for sure, and I really like having the closure of knowing how everything comes to be. I wouldn't bring my 7 year old to see it though-I thought it was a bit violent for her eyes yet, but maybe if she was a boy it would be different. wink.gif

ammommy replied: I can't wait to see it. If we could have gotten a sitter, we would have gone to the midnight showing, too. Hopefully, we'll catch it this weekend.
From everything I've heard, the action is great and the dialog is once again fair to poor. True?

Jamielou replied: Sorry you were dissapointed sad.gif I hope to catch it this weekend...

DVFlyer replied: I've heard it is too violent for it's rating. The person commenting on the movie when I heard them, said it should have been rated R.

Other than that, I've heard it's "ok".

bwalkerletters replied: I enjoyed it. I watched it yesterday and thought it finished the story pretty well. I do wish there was more info on Obi Wan.........his character is amazing. smile.gif

5littleladies replied:
I agree! Obi Wan is my favorite!!! biggrin.gif

kel replied: my dh is watching it as i type;)
i cant wait to see it:)
see, i never read the books ,neither did dh so maybe you spoilt it for yourself?
i remember aaages ago i read "the horse whisperer" and the movie was quite shite..
very dissapointing..

mom2lilnick replied: We are going to wait a few weeks and take the older kids. They have been dying to see it. I hope it isn't too scary for them. They have seen all the others at home.

coasterqueen replied: My husband read the book and he likes to read it because he feels the movies aren't as descriptive as the books and so he can follow the movie better if he's read it. Make sense? I don't know because I don't read the books. tongue.gif I have seen the movies and would like to see this one. I'd LOVE to take DH to see this for our anniversary coming up here in less than 2 weeks but I don't think I can trust anyone to handle Megan at this point. blush.gif

uwishucudfly replied: My father made my mother go with him to a midnight showing of Star Wars the day it came out. She said she fell asleep and that the whole car ride home he couldn't stop making all the sound effects! Haha! I love my dad! Over mother's day weekend, my dad showed Devin episode one in anticipation of the new Star Wars' arrival. (actually i don't know what number it was...something like that).....I'm not sure if Dev understood any of it, but now he uses his markers as light sabers....

MommyToAshley replied: DH and I are thinking about going to see it this weekend.

Thanks for the heads up... maybe we will go to the matinee instead of an eveneing showing.

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I haven't read the movie novel yet, but I did go see the movie yesterday and I thought it was awesome. It's very hard to take a book and make the whole thing into a movie. Can you imagine how long that movie would be? This movie was by far the best of all of the prequels. I didn't go to the 12:01 showing because I knew I would be falling asleep. I never made it to any of the 12:01 showings, but did get to see each movie on opening day. This movie is dark, but I believe it was a fitting end to the Prequels. thumb.gif
