Spin off of income..

Boys r us wrote: What does everyone and their spouse do for a living?

I'm a SAHM and Rick is a big computer dork for the Dept of Defense and we own our own business with flipping houses. I used to work for a large bank in the information security department, but it just wasn't worth the headache of getting the kids to and from daycare, so I quit to stay at home a year ago.

My3LilMonkeys replied: I did payroll for a national baby portrait company before they moved my job out of state....I'll be a SAHM for a few months and then I'll be looking again.

DH works for Coca Cola in one of their local warehouses.

moped replied: I didn't know you were a SAHM Nicole..........fun or not? LOL

I am an Engineering Technician in the oil and gas industry....I do a lot of permitting and licensing of wells and pipelines for drilling etc....

My husband has his own mechanical drafting business - Autocad type work. He sets his own hours so stays home with the kids when I am at work

I am currently on mat leave

jcc64 replied: Dh is exec VP of a small investment co. Does alot of IT stuff on the side. I used to be a textile designer, before my co. went under last year. I freelanced for awhile, but now I'm in back in school full time to become a high school English / Special Ed teacher.

Boys r us replied: Yep! I have been for a year. Fun or not? Well, I think it's imparative to point out that I AM NOT SAHM material! I'm just really NOT cut out for it. I worked hard to get where I was in my company and to make good money and I was used to my paycheck being my spending money and going and doing whatever I wanted...so it's taken some serious getting used to the idea that I don't have "my own money"..like when I go on a big shopping trip, I feel bad sometimes b/c I feel like I'm wasting Rick's money. Now HE doesn't feel this way..he in no way holds me accountable for "his" money..it's ours...it's just a mental hangup that I have. I guess because I've always been so independent. I also tend to need a lot of adult interaction..so some days it's hard for me. but I am the orgnaizer for a local playgroup for SAHM's so that gets us out and about..and did I mention that I hate cleaning and laundry..so now I'm forced to be good at it since I have all day to do it! LOL
As far as being here with Alliebelle goes, I love love love it!! I think I cherish it more because I know she's my last baby. We have a lot of fun together, but she does wear me out..more mentally than physically. She never stops and is constantly into something and that I can deal with..but she's so sassy and has so much spunk and determination about her..she really wears me down. By the time Rick gets home I always have a ready made excuse for what we "need" at the store so I can get out of the house alone!!!! I told him a few weeks ago that 'alone time is like the new heroin' so now we joke about me going to the grocery store to get high! HAAAA

TANNER'S MOM replied: I am an Administrative Assistant for an accounting firm. It's so so. I used to be an Account Manager for a trucking firm. I loved that job, but they went completely out of business.

Dh is a mechanic for a large factory. He is a welder. And when I mean mechanic I mean her works on machinery as large as my house. Computerized and very technical!

MoonMama replied: I am a SAHM. But before I got pregnant with Braedin I was a Nanny, which I LOVED because my last Nanny job was for my older brothers best friend's little girl. She was a doll I grew up with him as another older brother so to speak so it was neat.

DH is an architect and was made partner in the company he works for about 6 months ago. They mostly do big office/business buildings all over the world. He loves it and I love that fact that he is able to work from home MOST of the time.

kit_kats_mom replied: I manage a database and determine the percentage of medicaid eligible kids in school districts in three states. Basically, I help the schools get funding from the government for medicaid services. I could make a lot more money but working from home is worth the pay cut.

So for anyone who is interested, I will also be the mother to a architect, a chef and Superman in the future laugh.gif (I'll let you have two guesses on who the last one is, but you're probably only going to need one! rolling_smile.gif )

His tow motor is 50 000 tons, so you can imagine how much it carries rolleyes.gif He works in a metal rolling plant that makes metal parts for bridges, some plane parts [not sure if they do that anymore, though], train chassis, and he helps keep everyone safe on the roads! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif They make the guardrails on the sides of the roads in Canad-eh and the States. So if you've ever bumped into one and it kept you on the road as opposed to going over the edge, that was part of my DH's doing wink.gif He used to work inside the plant and did make the stuff, but now he's outside and loads it all onto trucks.

Me, well, I'm *just* a SAHM wink.gif I volunteer at our food bank once or twice a week and also go on as many school trips as I can. Other than that, you can find me sitting on my butt right here in front of my puter rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif

amymom replied: for a year now, I have been the Secretary at my daughter's elementary school. Before that I worked PT for a friend in his business and did my husband's paperwork for his sales business. When the price of gas hit $2 a gallon, we looked into my DH 'retiring' and he has worked at Walmart for a year now. He doesn't mind working at Walmart, actually likes the whole retail end and less driving. But....we as a family miss his being able to set his own hours.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: DH is a Computer Engineer for a company that mainly deals with optics, and I'm a Programs Specialist for a museum, as per my recent title upgrade. However I also still wear the hat of an Executive Assistant when needed. I also teach music lessons... I teach piano, violin, guitar, trumpet, trombone, cello, mandolin and I do voice coaching.

mom21kid2dogs replied: Stephen is an attorney specializing in real estate and probate. He does almost no criminal work. He works in a partnership with another attorney.

For 22 years, I worked as a social worker in a public children services agency. All the years were in adoption. The last 10 as a post adoption program coordinator. I left this job when Olivia was 2 because we had so much difficulty finding adequate child care. I stayed at home with her until last Fall. Now I have an even more glamourous job. laugh.gif I work for the health dept as a Public Health Specialist, a glorified title for lice queen! laugh.gif I screen a 1000 kids a week for head lice. I work a 100% school contract which means I drop O off at school, go to my schools, work while she is in school and pick her up when the bell rings. I'm off on snow days , school holidays and summer. PERFECT mom job!

lesliesmom replied: I'm an administrative assistant to 2 attorneys specializing in aviation defense. Not fun, pretty slow most the time but it's a job and I have total job security unless the firm closes down... I've been here for over 18 years (1/2 my life). I would love to be a SAHM but unfortunately I'm the primary wage earner and there's no way we could live off of DH's salary.

DH is a traffic reporter for TV and radio. Mostly TV.. he flies in the chopper every morning and runs the camera and does on-air reporting. He fills in on radio as needed because his second hat for the company he works for is as ADO - he sets scheduling so where there may be gaps he may have to fill in. Only problem is he's on call 24/7.

I went to school for Medical Transcriptioning and did that for about 6 months but found it too difficult to do with a newborn. Now that DS is a toddler I am wondering about finding a preschool for him and a job for me, but I'm not sure if I want to go back to MT or something else.
