Spencer

Today he couldn't wait to get up on his feet, the physio therapist has him using a walker to walk to his wheelchair. She parked it further down the hallway today and he did so well. But of course I missed it all, I was on the phone with the Patient Rep. Later today with the help of his walker, and his nurses we are going to give him a bath. His counts continue to rise. Today he is drinking tea and milk and has so far kept that all down. I'm just so amazed at how much he is doing now. He is much brighter, much happier and he is talking to the nurses and psychiatrist. We have been told that when we are discharged it will be to Ronald McDonald House, I don't know when we will be going back to Thunder Bay.
My mom will be here on Wednesday for a few days and on April 11, my boss is coming down early for a conference just so that she can visit me. On April 20 the Canadian Mental Health Association is flying my friend to Toronto. They are saying that she is the back-up representative for the coalition meeting. I was so shocked! I can't wait to see everyone!

Kirstenmumof3 replied: He continues to improve daily and it is so amazing! His nurse tonight was with us when he had to have the emergency MRI done on his arm and she couldn't believe the difference in him. Today with the help of his wheelchair he had a bath. We wheeled him into the bathroom and he took the few steps all on his own. Then this evening he wanted to get back into his bed (he wanted to stay in the wheelchair), so pretty much on his own he took the few steps and got back into his bed. Tomorrow he will be off of the Hydromorphone and on Monday he might be able to go the the StarLight Lounge, it's a playroom only for the kids on the 8th floor, it's up on the 9th floor. Spencer has been wanting to go up there for such a long time. His nurse this afternoon said that we should try to get some day passes next weekend and take him for a walk outside. We'll have to wait and see if he is ready for that.
b&bsmom replied: It is wonderful to hear all the good news. I can not imagine how good it must make you feel to finally see some progress. ((((HUGS))))) Lots of P&PT's coming your way still. Glad to hear all the good news
