Speaking of shoes

mysweetpeasWil&Wes wrote: I saw these in a Land's End catelog and I'm wondering what you think? Be honest! Like I said in Aimee's post, I'm more of a leather healed boot type of gal, but since I'm PG and will be schlepping a toddler around in the snow, I want something comfy, warm, dry and easy to walk in. And something easy to slip on. Plus, they're fairly inexpensive, but I guess that's my concern. Ugg boots are pretty expensive, but I've owned a pair and they last. Now I'm wondering if this is even worth it. I thought LE was a good company, but have they lowered their prices? I'm also looking at a down coat and it's only like $69! Does that seem cheap for down??

I would get them in black or dark brown. They are suede on the edges and fleece on the inside. And I would probably wear them inside my pants, not on the outside like the pic. They also have the higher ones and also clog style, which will get wet in the snow.

coasterqueen replied: I'm not a fashion person so I'm not much help. I don't think I would wear boots like that though, but like I said I'm a fashion victim. As far as LE's prices...have they lowered them? Uh, I think they are PRICEY! Or maybe my taste is just a lot lower because I think their prices are way too high for my budget. tongue.gif My co-worker buys from them constantly, but she doesn't have to work for $, she just likes to work. So money is no object to her. happy.gif But I guess if you buy uggs, LE's is probably not pricey for you. Even if they lowered their prices it doesn't make their products bad. If you like them go for them. thumb.gif Course I never care what others think of what's in fashion or not, I go for what I like. I think I did too much of that 'caring what others thought' in highschool to where I don't care anymore. happy.gif

Mommy2BAK replied: Oh i like those! How much are they?

Our Lil' Family replied: I really like those. If it got cold enough here (Louisiana) to wear them I'd get some myself, they look way comfy!

mom2tripp replied: I LOVE THEM thumb.gif

ediep replied: cute, but not really my taste. I sort of have thick legs, I don't think they'd be flattering on me

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I want some of those!!! I love them! thumb.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: They're nice!

But from experience of shlepping around a toddler and a baby, and eventually 2 toddlers, in the snow, it really doesn't matter which ones you wear.... you'll end up getting your feet wet anyways!!!! emlaugh.gif

I say go for something <waterproof> and easy-on, easy-off.

Unless you mean just for going outside to go to work.... then those would be great!

coasterqueen replied:
I agree! thumb.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
The shorter pair are $39.50 and the higher pair are $59.50. The clog version are $34. I think that's pretty reasonable, but I hope I didn't offend anyone by saying Land's End was gettting cheap. I am certainly not wealthy! I was just amazed that what they claim is a "water resistant" shoe to be under $100. Same with the goose down jacket which was only $69!! You would be paying $200+ for a North Face one at REI. And Uggs are at least $160 or so.

Karen, I do KWYM about not caring what others think, but I also find it fun to ask my girlfriends opinions on clothing and shoes. If you all hated them, I would definitely still consider getting them, but it's fun to ask. Also, the reason I'm asking is because I think I AM cheap and I don't want to buy something from a catelog only to return it (and pay for shipping twice). LOL laugh.gif KWIM?

Thanks for everyone's opinions! thumb.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: Not my style

I woudl be looking it to something more water proof and if it get really cold where you are that are thurmal and will actully keep your feet warm. I bought a pair of boots last year from Payless becasue they said they would keep my feet warm, my feet are always cold, and they did I was sooo happy and excited. i need to see if they have some new styles.

Good luck

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
This is what they said about them....according to the description, they are water resistant and they have sherpa lining for warmth:

New shiver-proof Sherpa Marinacâ„¢ Boots: as feminine as they are essential.

WindCheck barrier and DriOff coatings on shaft and uppers
Pull on shaft for easy on/off
Pile topline and side trim add flair
Suede mudguards to keep the slush off and away
Sherpa pile linings to keep your feet cozy

ammommy replied: The boot is OK, but I don't care for the sole/heel. It looks very masculine to me. Of course, I've yet to find a snow boot that I like rolleyes.gif
As for their prices, I was wondering the same thing. I couldn't believe that the winter jacket that I wanted was only around $70. I was expecting something in the 200-300 range.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Okay, sorry to keep going on about this, but for those who like them, do you think I should get the low or high ones? I thought probably the lower ones, but I sorta think the high ones would be cute with tights and a skirt for the winter. I just saw a really cute brown corduroy skirt at Motherhood the other day! I always hated the Uggs with skirts, but HEY, I'm PG...it could be cute! What do you think, because I think I'm going to order them.

ammommy replied: If you are going to get them, get the high ones. That way if you get alot of slush, you won't get cold ankles.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I love the tall ones. thumb.gif

kimberley replied:
me too lol.

i am a fashion victim as well lately but it is almost impossible to stay clean and comfortable running after 3 kids and being pg and have to worry about new expensive clothes lol. i learned years ago, suede is NOT for me.. gets ruined too fast, but they are cute!

Kaitlin'smom replied:
guess then if you like them go for it but check there return policy, and see if you can sign up and offers liek free shipping or a % off
