Speaking of Proactive

lisar wrote: Who all has tried it? And is it worth the money for me to get it? My skin is bad but I do have some black heads that I cant seem to get out and they are driving me nuts. Any suggestions?

webby replied: proactiv works- i use it for heat pimples (ones i get whenever its too hot in a room) and it works wonderfully. the refining mask is also another thing that's good to use. just want to warn you that if it spills on a carpet or a shirt, tend to it immediately with soaps and water. i unfortunately learned this the hard way and i now have a huge ugly orange bleach mark on my BRAND NEW carpeting. sleep.gif
store it in a cool place, the creams can become melted.

youngmomofone replied: Im glad to hear that it works because I'm getting some this weekend. They have a proactiv thing in the mall like a soda machine type thing where you can order some without having to order it online or whatever.

I have tons of redness, huge pores, and black heads on my nose...not to mention some acne scares that only showed up from the last 2-3 yrs rolleyes.gif

webby replied: ive seen those machines too. i order mine so they come every x amount of months. it really dries out your face.
the refining mask is supposed to be worn for 10 minutes then taken off but i leave it on overnight. that could be another reason my face is so dry. it really works though, the spots get really dried out.

luvmykids replied: It worked for me off and on. Exfoliation is the key to getting rid of the blackheads, the proactive alone won't do it.

webby replied:
not to sound dumb, but what's exfoliation?

lisar replied:
Yea I need to know to

boyohboyohboy replied: it never worked for me, it dried my skin out really bad, and made it red. although my complexion wasnt that bad.
I tried it for three months..

I think someone on here said that walmart sells a knock off brand if you might be able to get it cheaper...

I know for some it works, and some it doesnt

luvmykids replied: Exfoliation is a natural process of old, dead skin coming off, but most of us need to speed it up a little by using an exfoliant....usually a scrub, or something with glycolic or salicylic acid in it. Helping nature along gets the dead stuff off faster so the newer, healthier skin shows and as far as blackheads go, exfoliation helps get all the clogs out.

cameragirl21 replied: exfoliation is when you scrub the top surface of your skin to remove the dead skin cells because they are what cause blackheads.
This can be achieved by buying an acne or oily skin or exfoliating scrub, which you can get at Target or Walmart or you can buy one of those sponge things. You can even do it yourself with a washcloth and some cleanser if you don't press too hard.
You can better results for treating pimples (than Proactiv, and it's cheaper too) by using organic apple cider vinegar on a cotton ball. It smells, though.

webby replied: wouldn't exfoliating hurt your face?

i just put proactiv on my face because i had a few heat pimples and my face is burning now. it's not as bad as it just was 4 minutes ago, but it hurt to even do it. that's another thing proactiv does.

another thing that's great to use is clean and clear oil-free acne moisturizer. it works great and smells much better than proactiv, but it may make your face feel a little greasy because of the smell.

luvmykids replied:
Yes, if you over do it. But using a scrub or a washcloth the right way doesn't hurt. Sometimes I like to use a dry wash cloth, nothing on it, just use it to go over my face in a circular motion. Doesn't hurt a bit wink.gif

mckayleesmom replied: I just used it for the first time and it burned a little, but my face is super soft now..

Thanks Tara.

I don't have achne, but I get blackheads and breakout when aunt flo comes to town.

I told my friend I just got it and she said "but don't you have clear skin?"... laugh.gif I guess my illusion sworking.

webby replied:
only burned the first time??? i guess it shouldnt be burning me all the time then. did the first cream you apply burn you? it goes in order the big white bottle, the water, and the little white bottle.

mckayleesmom replied:
Today was the first time I used it....so I don't know if it will continue to burn or not. I did use it in order though.

PrairieMom replied: It will work for a few months, then it stops for some reason. I got a good tear out of mine, then my skin got used to it.

lisar replied:
Oh okay. I already use a scrub about once a week. So I should be good then

austins mom replied: Lisa I wouldnt do it. Jessi was using it and it made it worse for her. Josh has been using it and it is not helping him.

She went to the dr and they gave her a persciption and a cream and she is clearing up now.

lisar replied:
yea I noticed this past weekend that her face was looking really good. I wanna know what she is on find out so I can try it
