Sound of Music

coasterqueen wrote: We've been watching the Sound of Music in parts the last few nights with the girls. It's been so long since Dh or I have seen it. Now I can't seem to get the songs out of my head. tongue.gif wacko.gif happy.gif

The girls are not as into it as I thought they would be, though.

booey2 replied: I love the Sound of Music but in my house there is no one to watch it for me. When I bought DH thought I was nuts. I think I am just going to have to put in on one night and see who joins me. When I was a little girl, my sister and I used to sing all the songs and pretend we were the Von Trapp family singers. Oh the fun we had. rolling_smile.gif

coasterqueen replied:
rolling_smile.gif I try singing the songs now and the girls beg me to stop. blush.gif rolling_smile.gif

I was very surprised that Dh wanted to watch it and that he likes it. He has always seemed like he did not enjoy musical-type things, so I thought this would be the case with this too, but he fooled me. happy.gif

luvmykids replied: I love all those old musicals...Singing in the Rain, South Pacific, Pillow Talk...but Sound of Music is one of my all time favorites. I hadn't thought about the kids though, we may have to rent it this weekend!

coasterqueen replied: Yeah, we also rented Mary Poppins at DH's request. I had forgot about that one. Unfortunately when we got home to watch it, one of the disks was missing. dry.gif So hopefully we can rent that one this weekend. I don't remember that one either. blush.gif

mommy~to~a~bunch replied: rolling_smile.gif We actually just got a VHS copy from somewhere, and it's one of my all-time favorite movies. I'm glad my girls love it as much as I do. Of course, DH can't stand it so we have to watch it when he's not home LOL.

lisar replied: I never cared for those movies. I dont know why I just couldnt get into them.

Kaitlin'smom replied: wonder if Kailtin would like it, she seems to like musicals....might have to try, altho I have to admit I am not that fond of it.

msoulz replied: OMG, those are such fun movies for the whole family - and don't forget Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! Although that one does have what could be a scary part when the kids get captured.

My son at about 2 or 3 used to sing and dance to Singing in the Rain - it was so adorable! He put on a hat and had to have an umbrella. So cute!!

I am so glad you posted this. I had totally forgotten about the fun movies we have that we can now share with Erin! We have all of them mentioned except Pillow Talk, but I'm guessing that's not necessarily a kid movie! But then, neither is Singing in the Rain and the boy just loved it - but now it is "boring" to him. rolleyes.gif

luvbug00 replied: we love it!

but i hadn't remebered all the ww2 referances so when i saw it after about 12 years for the first time again, it was like wow i totally missed that!

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: my kids LOVE the sound of music

do-so-la-fa-me-re-do
do-so-la-te-do-re-do

sorry that is the part that gets stuck in my head so I had to share biggrin.gif

DansMom replied: Daniel likes the lonely goatherd song tongue.gif

If you're bringing out old movies you fondly remember, let me just warn you: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is nearly 3 hours long. I made that mistake!

Brias3 replied: Oh man, Aliyah became absolutely OBSESSED last spring! The school musical for the high school students spring performance was Sound of Music and the kids loved it so much, we watched the DVD the next night straight through.

Allie's probably watched it a gazillion times since.

It's one of my favorites as well! (One of my favorite places ever to have seen while living in Europe too thumb.gif )
