Sort by color
MommyToAshley wrote: Ashley has been going through this phase for a couple of weeks now where she sorts everything by color. She sorts her blocks, her clothes, and even her bath toys by color. Some days she will only wear the same color of shirt as she is pants... for example you can't put a white shirt on her with red pants, it would have to be a red shirt. (On those days, it drives me nuts ) She doesn't do the clothes thing all the time, but she is constantly sorting things by color. I guess this is typical toddler behavior, right? Anyone else's little tike doing this?

maestra replied: No, not here......sorting is a pretty advanced concept- 4 to 5 years old. I still have some kinders that don't always do it. Way to go Ashley!
A&A'smommy replied: WOW she is SOO smart!!!! WTG Ashley!!!
maestra replied: I have to correct myself after looking through our district curriculum- 3 to 4 years old. Still advanced for her age
kit_kats_mom replied: not here. That Ashley is a braniac! Is it one or two particular colors that she picks out frequently? Maybe she is just showing a preference for yellow and orange?
MommyToAshley replied: She always picks out the orange first, and then usually light blue if there is light blue. I don't know why she does those colors first. But, she usually puts all the items in piles by their colors. In the pictures above she was building with two colors only but then she eventually sorted all the blocks after her towers fell.
CantWait replied: She is too funny, but yes very advanced. There's much more of that to come. Robbie went through stages where he would only eat things that were a certain colour. Right now he only wants WHITE salad dressing WTG ASHLEY!!!
kevinmommy replied: [B] she is cute.My son kevin always pick on orange and blue when he do colouring.I try to inroduce him other colours. He simply refuse it.Sorting out colours not too often.Let me pay more attention on this and let you know
Kaitlin'smom replied: such a cutie and so smart!
ediep replied: wow!! She is very advanced!!! Jason doesn't do this yet
MommyToAshley replied: Isn't that weird/interesting... I wonder what it is about orange and lt. blue. It will interesting to see if anyone else's baby favors those colors too.
MommyToAshley replied: OH my! I am glad Ashley is not eating only certain colors of food... that must make cooking a balanced meal a real challenge.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: That's pretty good that she can do that! I don't think any of my children have done that. Now they do with the legos but they are older 6 & 8. That Ashley is pretty smart!
kimberley replied: geesh she'll be in college when she is 7yo!! what a smart cookie!!
amynicole21 replied: Wow! She is too smart Sophia isn't doing this, but she is just now starting to ask "color?" when she sees something. We have to name the color of EVERYTHING... it's cute, though
pinka_star replied: Wow, what a smart little girl!! WTG HONEY!! How old is she again?
I just love that face she's making in that first picture. Too adorable!!!
MommyToAshley replied: Thanks. That's her "CHEESE" face. She does that whenever she sees the camera.
coasterqueen replied: What a smart girl Ashley!
Kylie *sometimes* sorts things by color, but more by shape.
Actually my PED told me this morning that this type of *behavior* starts at 18 months. He told me to not be suprised if Kylie started to only want to eat a certain color of food, clothes, etc, etc.
