Insanemomof3 replied: Great pics!
C&K*s Mommie replied: I admit it, I am not cultured and clueless , but what do you do at the rodeo on the rodeo days??
3xsthefun replied: Those are adorable pictures!
CAMSMOM1 replied: Monica, your children are adorable!!! Every picture I see of them, they are always so happy and soooo cute!
I used to love going to Rodeos. It's a big thing once a year here. I haven't been in a few years, but seeing those pictures, makes me want to go again! So much fun!
And don't you love it when the crash after a looong day?! Finally, Mommy gets to put her feet up!
CAMSMOM1 replied: Nicole, you're funny! Well, at our rodeos, there is bull riding of course. And barrel riding (forgot the proper name for it) And then the Jr. Cowboys/Cowgirls, like the youngsters get to rope a sheep...it's cute! And there's always a lot of activites for the children, booths, good BBQ. It's a lot of fun! Of course ours is probably Okie compared to in the south, but its a blast!
MamaJAM replied: SOOOOOOOOO cute! What an adorable cowboy you've got there...and the sweety cow-gals!
ions_momma replied: Awww! How cute!!
luvmykids replied: Nicole, you crack me up! Around here rodeo is pretty common, so it's not quite like Ann's with a BBQ and everything (sounds good though!) There are full blown rodeos with all the events (bareback, saddle bronc, team roping, calf roping, steer wrestling, breakaway roping, bull riding and barrel racing)
There are different organizations that have them, the one that our kids do is once a month from November to May and they are strictly for kids, just barrels, pole bending, (poles are set up and you basically weave through them on the horse as fast as you can and get a penalty for knocking any down), goat tying, flag racing (there's a barrel at the end of the arena with a coffee can with a flag stuck in it, you run your horse down and grab the flag while on the horse and run back), sheep riding, steer riding.
There are also just roughstock rodeos, which are just bull riding, bareback and saddle bronc riding, and other things that are event specific, just bull riding or just barrel racing or just team roping.
The big daddy of them is during our State Fair, every night for 14 nights they're at an indoor arena that seats about 40,000 and they're professional cowboys/cowgirls.
Sorry that got so long, I get a little excited!
mom21kid2dogs replied: So cute!! Do your kids participate in rodeo (like Mel's son, Tanner) or is it an enjoyable family activity? Sorry~we're rodeo challenged in Ohio!
luvmykids replied: They're too young to do what Tanner does, Colt will start riding sheep next year, but they do the events for their ages. The whole family on DH's side does or did rodeo, so it's like football is for some families, KWIM? But we love to just watch too. It's my favorite way to spend an afternoon!
PhiMuMommy replied: cute.. do you own the horses or was this a special event? alex loves horses and had done several pony rides. i can't wait till he's old enough to really ride a horse
luvmykids replied: They're our horses. Unfortunately, they're really old and we're probably going to lose them in the next year or two. It's hard to find a good kid horse, but we've been blessed with Sarah and Doc. (All our horses have people names except Doc, don't ask me why!) They don't always ride by themselves, they're still learning but we know these horses aren't going to pull anything dangerous. I don't think I could let the kids do it if it weren't for Sarah and Doc! But it's great, they love it so much and are soooo proud of themselves! I wish I could've grown up with it like they are.
A&A'smommy replied: AWWWWWWW they are SOOO cute!!!!
fashionmumofboys replied: Great pictures, and your kiddos are so adorable.
CantWait replied: Those are some darn cute pictures.
