Someone tried to break into our HOUSE! - Freaked me out!!!
CAMSMOM1 wrote: So we have an alarm on our house. And usually, my husband doesn't set the alarm after he leaves to work in the morning. Well for some reason, he did this morning. Around 8:30AM, the house alarm went off!!! I jumped out of bed (Cam & I were still in bed, and DH was at work). I rush over to turn off the alarm, and it said that it was triggered by our living room windows! (our living room is towards the backyard) I was freaked out! Someone was trying to break into our house! Thank God Justin set the alarm this morning! I'm still freaked out by it! But at least we have an alarm on our house, it must have scared the buglar off, and we're safe. 2 weeks ago, a house that's 2 streets down from us, got broken into during the day. And the homeowner was beaten to death! I wonder if this was the same person, who tried to break into our house this morning.
Thank God for his guardian angels! They were truely looking after us today!
PhiMuMommy replied: Oh my GOSH.. how scary is that? thankfully you guys are ok. you definantly had a guardian angel with you...
i'm soo sorry this happen. but i'm glad everything is ok.
Insanemomof3 replied: So so glad you and Cam are ok. Thank God your hubby was thinking this morning and set the alarm!
PrairieMom replied: OMG! I am so glad that you guys are okay! how scary!
C&K*s Mommie replied: exactly!
we need to get one on our house, now.
amynicole21 replied: Oh my God! How scary
C&K*s Mommie replied: I told Chris about what happened when he came in this AM, and I told him I have been meaning to call around to get information. A salesman from a company came aruond last weekend for the second time in a yr to our home, and a cop down the street even went with their services- so I am thinking lets make the move now. He said okay, let's get someone out here.
((sorry did not mean to make this post about me))
--- I am still happy that your Justin set the alarm, will he make a habit from now on??
MamaJAM replied: Glad you guys are ok. Did the police find any fingerprints on the windows?
moped replied: Oh no - I would be more than freaked out - glad you are OK
kit_kats_mom replied: Yikes! those alarm systems are great. But so far ours has scared the beejeepers out of us twice. Once, during a storm at 3am, our front door blew open (fil was visiting and forgot to lock the deadbolt when he went out to his car late in the evening) and the alarm went off. I grabbed a can of hairspray (it was the only thing nearby) and jumped out of bed, heart POUNDING. Dh, who was sleeping in DD's room because of the storm, met me in the dark living room. He about got a face full of hairspray and I almost got conked by a mag light. It was so scary.
amymom replied: I am so glad you are ok. Thank GOD!!!
~~*Missi*~~ replied: omg wow thank god u have the alarm and it was set....... beatin to death where in theworld do u live????? around here (buffalo) we have had alot of bank robberies and people mugging pizza delivery people.
WOW i am so glad you both are ok and that dh set the alarm
3xsthefun replied: That is so scary! Glad you all are ok!
CAMSMOM1 replied: I'm still laughing about Cary ((kit_katsMom)) Getting a can of hair spray and spraying your husband!
Missi, I live in California. DH doesn't want me to list the name of the city we are from, but it's in the Central Valley area. We have HIGH crime rate. That's why we put the alarm on our house, as soon as we moved in. A little while after we bought our house, someone tried to break into our neighbor's house...luckily....our dog scared them off she was barking so much. And we've had a lot of cars stolen from our street. So even though we llive in a decent area, it's just the city that we live in that's the problem. No matter if we move within the city, we'll still be at risk. We've already had 5 murders in 2006!
Nicole, I would definetly suggest getting a home alarm system right away. After what happened to me yesterday, I just thank God that we have it. Especially when Justin is gone, it helps me to feel safe. And you can find places where the monthly payments are pretty low. We got our system put in by one of DH's friends, so we only had to pay 500 dollars to get the system in. The bad part is, it's not connected to the alarm company, so if it goes off, the police won't be informed. So I suggest getting it through a company, it's worth the money for your family to be safe.
Judy, I never called the police. So no fingerprints were taken.
I just hope that what happened to me, gets you guys prepared, for it, just in case. I never would've thought someone would try to break into our house, on a Saturday morning. But that's the type of world we live in now, and we have to protect ourselves. I'm definetly going to keep the alarm on in the mornings now. We always have it on at night, but you never know when it's going to happen.
C&K*s Mommie replied: that reminded me, that most people do not set there alarms when they come in from work, etc.-- because they figure no one will burglarize their home while they are at home. I remember hearing that yrs ago, and burglars know this, that is why some still take advantage of people coming into their homes at night.
I always set the alarm when I came in, in the evening when we lived in a place in Tallahassee. ALWAYS. DH on the other hand.... not really.
Thanks Ann, I still have to call around, but the one company I am thinking of I will be sure to ask to see if they are switchboard connection the our local police. I did not realize that some do not.
kit_kats_mom replied: We have ours monitored and it runs about $32 a month Nicole. PM me if you want to Nicole, and I'll give you the company name. If I remember correctly, our installation was free with a 3 year contract. the best part is that they will install for free at a new home if you move but are still under contract.
I turn ours on every night after dinner. I can't sleep if it's not on. I'm way too worried about someone stealing K from her room on the other side of the house. Especially after that Jessica Lunsford murder happened...less than an hour away from us.
MommyToAshley replied: Looks like someone was definitely looking out for you. So glad your DH listened to that guardian angel.
Cary, your story has me in tears I am laughing so hard.
When I lived in an apartment (before I even met DH), I was home alone by myself during the day. I was in the shower and appearantly the robbers had rang all the doorbells downstairs to see if anyone would let them in,. (I lived in a security building) When I was turning the shower off, I heard a loud noise. I thought someone was knocking on the door. So, I opened the shower door and yelled just a minute. It wasn't a knock, it was actually the robbers kicking in the door. (I had the door chained and deadbolted). The robbers thought I was yelling that I was calling the police and ran. The police caught them in another apartment building about 5 minutes away and they had a gun on them. (It was the same people because they had snatched my purse on the way out the door and it was on them). I had nightmares for months and I still am thankful that things turned out the way they did.
kayla's mama replied: OMGosh that would have more than freaked me out. Glad you guys are ok and Justin set the alarm.
C&K*s Mommie replied: That is scary, Dee Dee!
CAMSMOM1 replied: Dee-Dee, Your story just sent chills down my spine. Last night when I was laying in bed, I was thinking about what had happened. And how things could've turned out if we didn't have an alarm. You hear it on the news all the time, how someone was hurt, or killed by a bugular. Even though we have a gun in the house, (put away where Cameron can't get to it) I don't know how to use it. And when I got up to turn off the alarm, I was totally unprepared. I had nothing to defend myself with, and I would've easily been overtaken by a man, and who knows what would've happened to us & Cameron. I'm trying not to think about it to much, because it just gets me upset. I can relate to your nightmares, I had a hard time going to sleep last night.
Nicole, I also heard that too, that thieves come during the day, because they know there is no alarm system on. And most of them don't care if people are inside, because they carry guns. This past Christmas, in our city, 40 something homes were bugularized...and most of them during the day. 1) they figure most people are working. 2) They know that if anyone is home, it's usually a female. 3.) If they have a gun, most people will not put up a fight.
Not only do I feel blessed that nothing happened to us, I feel more aware of my surroundings.
But the one thing that scares me, is Justin is going out of town this week. He'll be gone for 5 days. I'll be sure to have my alarm, and ask him to show me how his gun works. I hate to have to do that, but it's for our protection. Thanks again for the support.
MamaJAM replied: We don't have an alarm system -- but we have a very protective dog...and we never have to remember to turn her on.
Again -- I'm just glad you guys are safe and sound.
ions_momma replied: OMG how scary!! I am sooo glad that the alarm was on and you were safe!
luvmykids replied: Dee Dee and Ann, you both had close calls! We have an alarm too, I always keep it on. It has a setting for "at home" so people moving around doesn't set it off but opening a door or window would. Glad both of you are ok!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Omg!! I'm glad you're ok. This is something that really scares me right now. My friend just had her apartment broken into while she was in it ~ she hid in the bathroom for 20 minutes while he was going through the apartment.
fashionmumofboys replied: OMG that must have been so scary. Glad everything turned out just fine and the both of you are safe and sound.
Make sure you have the alarm set everytime from now on.
A&A'smommy replied: OMG I'm glad he set the alarm and that you guys are okay!!
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: That is so scary!!
CantWait replied: It's probably not to late for finger prints. I'm just thankful you guys are alright. Thank goodness yorur dh set the alarm today.
Edward's Mommy replied: Isn't intution the greatest but strangest thing!!! I'm so glad that everyone is okay!! I wouldn't have anyone to talk to!! I would have gone and stayed with a friend of that kind of stuff would scare me so bad I wouldn't stay home!!!
~~*Missi*~~ replied: OHHhh its like when I lived in Cleveland.... they have such a HIGH crime rate. I mean they have the largest population of gangs in the country on the east side. Of course we lived in Brathnal and well that bordered the "east" side and well.
There are areas like that everywhere. I am just so glad that you had the alarm and DOG and that everything is AOK
Wow that would have scared the poop out of me I have a big mouth and will speak my mind but things like that I am the BIGGEST wussy!
So glad you are alright!
