Some ttc questions

coasterqueen wrote: Okay, some of you know DH and I want to ttc this summer (July). Well, I have a lot going through my mind, that maybe some of you can help me figure out, lol. First off, when we decided to ttc Kylie we got pg on our very first try. I've heard a lot of people say they had no problem with their first but then when they tried for their second it took them a lot longer. Is there something I should be doing? Should I chart? Is there a website I could go to for info? Dh is making me wait so long to ttc this second one, well longer than I wanted to wait, that I want to get pg asap! LOL!

5littleladies replied: You could chart-I've heard it can raise your chances. I personally like to just BD as much as possible. This is our second month trying and just being on the second month is totally new for us. unsure.gif Maybe there are things you can do to up your chances, but I think it will happen when it is supposed to happen. happy.gif Kudos to you for being able to wait that long-I would be going crazy by now! biggrin.gif

coasterqueen replied: Jennifer,

Do you know of any good websites to get info on this stuff? I have no idea what all the terms are, etc, lol.

5littleladies replied: Actually I don't have a clue. blush.gif When I am looking for info on this I go to google and type in things like trying to conceive, charting, getting pregnant, etc. There is so much info out there-You just have to do a bit of digging to find it. happy.gif I'll bet someone else on here knows a few good sites though. smile.gif

juliajaj replied: DH & I conceived on the 1st try with each pregnancy (we were very fortunate). I didn't do any charting to get pregnant with Olivia. She weaned at a year, but my cycling didn't return until 2 weeks after the last nursing. We were hoping to get pregnant after Olivia turned 1, so I went off the pill at this time. My 1st cycle was around 30 days, but then I had 2 in 2 weeks. I figured this was normal since I recently stopped nursing & went off the pill. I didn't chart, but I did buy some ovulation prediction kits which were very helpful. DH & I bd the same day that the OPK showed a positive line for ovulation. 3 weeks later I took a HPT & it came back with a positive response.

amynicole21 replied: Karen, here is a good site to look at for charting:

Fertility Friends

I'm nervous like you - hoping it's as easy to conceive the second time around. unsure.gif I haven't started charting, but might try it as we get closer to "go" time wink.gif

coasterqueen replied:
Thanks Amy. I will definately look at that site. I think I'm nervous for a world of reasons. I'm nervous because I hear so many woman that are nursing and ttc and they end up having miscarriages. sad.gif I've been told there is no correlation between the two but it still doesn't make you feel very comfortable about it. In the back of my mind I keep thinking that if I'm nursing while ttc then it's going to happen. How horrible is that to think that way? UGH! sad.gif I guess I'm also nervous ttc will take a lot longer than I wish it too, lol. But I guess there's a plan for me and I'll go along with it.

Thanks again!

kimberley replied: sorry i don't have any advice on TTC, but i can tell you that i nursed Jacob for the first 4 months of my pg with James and all turned out well. i don't think there is a correlation between the two. good luck when you go for it!! thumb.gif

jem0622 replied: Honestly...if you want to try without any pressure and you really want to try...then I'd say after AF shows up then from the point that she has 'left the building' you and DH should bd EVERY OTHER NIGHT. If you do this for two months and still aren't pregnant then I'd try using Ovulation Predictor Tests.

How long are your cycles?

I don't want to chart with temps. Too confusing for me. And you have to do it before you get out of bed every morning.

Fertility friend is a good place to start. You can get other free charts on the web too.

I'd recommend that you borrow or buy Taking Charge of Your Fertility. A very good read!

coasterqueen replied:
Julie,

Thanks. I will have to see if I know someone with that book or go to the library. After looking at all that charting stuff, I'm not sure I want to take my temp either. blink.gif Too much, lol.

I think we'll probably do the every other night thing, though. LOL. I guess I'm just trying to figure out the whole process of ovulation, etc, because Dh and I are going on our trip July 1 - 4, which I *thought* we would ttc on that trip, hehehehe, but I'm not sure if we should try or not because I'm supposed to start AF on July 6th. So then I'll get my hopes up that something happened and it probably won't since it's so close to AF, right? I just know how I will get, and I don't want to put that pressure on myself, kwim?

My cycle is 28 days, I believe. I just started actually writing down when AF is last month, lol. Isn't that terrible. I've had AF back for 10 months now and i just figured out when she arrives. *SIGH*

kit_kats_mom replied: My cycles have always been eratic so I started charting just to make sure I was ovulating when we decided we wanted a baby. I went to the Taking Charge of Your Fertility website and bought the software...I think it's called Ovusoft. It cost about $35 bucks but it was great. You just enter in your morning temp, cervix position and mucous consistancy if you want and it does the rest. It actually told me when to BD and when I was preggo. A little baby face popped up on the screen on my 3rd cycle when I opened the program that morning and I bought a test and tested pos. LOL.

beckamouse replied: the funniest bit of advice i have ever heard about TTC and what works best is to one just have fun trying as often as possible (tee-hee...i like that one) and two buy something you'd only use if you were NOT pregnant that cannot be used once a baby is on the way.

i'm feeling silly right now, hence the silly advice but good luck and keep us posted on how it all goes! *hugs* and have fun

jem0622 replied:

Based on what you told me your window of fertility would be cycle days 8, 10, 12, and 13. AF is CD 1, so count from there. This is also assuming that you ovulate the same time every month (no stress or other factors to delay ovulation). So you'd want to be rather 'busy' wink.gif on cycle days 8, 10, 12, and 13.

Good luck! You can buy bulk packs of ovulation predictor kit strips on eBay for cheap.

I could not take my temp, check my cervix, and my cervical fluid. I'd rather just put it in God's hands! Bd'ing every other day seems a lot more fun to me than 'inspecting' myself! LOL.

Julie

coasterqueen replied: LOL. I don't even know if I would be able to figure *myself* out, lol. So it will have to be the every other day and hope for the best. Course, I'm pretty sure Dh would agree with the every other day too, biggrin.gif .

Thanks for the CD's. I'll have to keep them in mind for sure wink.gif.

5littleladies replied:
Lol-My DH hasn't had any complaints. He'll probably be pretty bummed when I do get pregnant. happy.gif

LOL!! rolling_smile.gif My husband will say that. I guarantee it. smile.gif

chloe&tysmommy replied: I think because you got pregnant so easily with Kylie you shouldn't have to worry. I got pregnant with Chloe on the first try also ( I was very lucky) and with this pregnancy I was pregnant the first month we started trying.

I like the "bd every other day", that's what we did. You have a really good chance that way. I agree, if you don't get pregnant within a couple months then I would start charting.

I would wait to start until after af leaves..jmo.

*Good Luck*

Guest_angelhair replied: welcome to ttc your second. there are sites which you put in your date of af, how many days clcle lenght was and it pops back five or so days which you are fertile. just type in ovulation predictor. babycenter website has this tool. it gives you a general idea. you can try the ovulation predictor kits they sell on the market as well. my cousin gave me clearblue fertility moniter which uses test sticks , reads them and gives you a idea of when your low, high and peak fertility days are. it is a expensive option though and you might be able to get a bargin on ebay. just started using the moniter this month.
