Some people :(

MichaelsMommy wrote: My best friend in the whole world came in from
Ohio for the weekend. She's been ttc for almost
2 years on on all kinds of fertility meds. We were
at a little get together and I went into another room
to get a drink while she held Michael. I came back
in and she was spooning him the middle of an eclare
type thing. My jaw dropped. I love her to death
but my God he's only 6mos! I was beside myself
didn't want to start a huge fight, I just said
'We don't give him stuff like that yet' and picked him
up from her. She should know better she has
a 16mo old nephew sad.gif Sure enough, Michael
was sick to his stomach an hour or so later.. really
pukey and fussy.

Before he even had the chance to get ill from the
sweets.. some neighbors dropped by her sisters
house (where we were hanging out) and just
lit up a smoke right next to him!
Ok, we're out of here.

Before we had to leave, I got a pic of Ryan and Michael
discussing the rattle. He's the 16mo old - I just love him
he's a total tank.

MommyToAshley replied: ohmy.gif I can't believe she gave him that to eat, poor little guy! And, for the smoking, I feel the same way. I can't believe some people light up right next to little kids or babies. I don't even like to be around it myself, but I always move if someone lights up next to Ashley.

What cute pics! wub.gif I am glad he was able to enjoy some time there... he sure is a cutie!

Josie83 replied: ohmy.gif Oh my gosh, that is so dumb! I wouldn't have been happy with that. And lighting up a cigarette next to ababy, that's awful! I'm sorry that Michael was so ill grouphug.gif xx

gr33n3y3z replied: some ppl. just dont think Its sad
I hope you enjoyed some of the day

GavinsMommy replied: Sorry that happened! I hate it when people tell me how to parent Gavin regarding giving him solids already and such. She should have at least asked first, but hello...it's an eclair!!! banghead.gif Poor thing!!

mammag replied: Oh I hate when people do stuff like that! My mom used to do that all the time!

The pictures were adorable!

A&A'smommy replied: UGH I have people do the same things to Alyssa dry.gif

CCTandME replied: I had a friends mother try to give my 7mo cake and ice cream at a birthday party. My friend knew I would freak and stopped her mom. I agree SOME PEOPLE!!

kit_kats_mom replied: Just to play devils advocate...maybe she really had no idea. I knew nothing about kids until I had them and then I read and read to learn everything I could. I probably would have tried to give an infant ice cream or cake just out of total ignorance...not because I was trying to be mean.

seriously, even when I was trying to get pregnant, I was studying ovulation etc but I still knew nothing about feeding kids. You could have shown me a one year old and I wouldn't have been able to tell you if he was a newborn or a toddler. I was so clueless. LOL

texasp3 replied: I agree about being clueless before having kids... but, regardless of what I did or didn't know about feeding children, I think it's just common courtesy to ask a parent before you offer a child of ANY age something to eat. I never offer my friends' kids treats or food of any kind without checking with the parent first. You just never know what is okay and what isn't - for a dozen good reasons. And what is okay one day, might not be the next day, depending on what else has been going on... so.. I think it's more a violation of courtesy than anything else.

As for the smoking.. AGH... don't get me started. With everything that is common knowledge today about the dangers of second hand smoke... I just flip out over people blowing smoke around kids. banghead.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: ohmy.gif OMG I can't believe that! Some people just don't think!

Celestrina replied: With the smoking, even if you aren't a parent you should know better than to smoke around any kid regardless of their age. As for the eclaire, I agree with Texasp3. You should ALWAYS ask the parent what is apropriate for the child, and not just if you have started feeding sweets. There can be other concerns such as food alergies.

MichaelsMommy replied: Hey thanks everyone - he's ok today, but yes, i was pretty
pissed. I think i'll say something to her later on that it got
to me the way it did, we're pretty close.. she was not
the one smoking - she does but she did know enough
to go outside... somone i didn't know did that, it just
added to the mess.

Mommy2Be replied: That would have made me SO MAD mad.gif I just don't understand some people dry.gif. I agree you should ALWAYS ask the parents first.

Vert sweet picture though thumb.gif
