Smoking and pregnancy????

We went to a bar last night for my B-Day and there was a group of people next to us and she was pg and smoking, not sure if she was drinking but I wouldn't doubt it. Doesn't she understand what she is doing to her unborn child. Oh it just irks me to no end.

So how do you all feel about it?

na81 replied: Bugs me too! As a matter of fact, I saw a women last weekend at the mall smoking and I was telling my SO how much it bothers me to see that! I don't smoke anyways but if I did, I would definately stop while pregnant, no matter how hard it was!! I would want to do it for my baby's health!!

MyLuvBugs replied: ITA with Rae (mysweetpeawil) on this one. I can not stand to be around smoke, and it kills me to see others doing it around their kids in cars or while PG.

ITA too. I'm a smoker but I always do it away from Kayla. I basically only smoke when she's napping. I quit when I was pg and made sure that when we went out to eat that we sat the furthest from the smoking section, actually we do.

I might add : why the heck is a pregnant women at the bar anyways? Hopefully she wasn't drinking. She better be only picking up her hubby or some friends!Geez!!

Well, I'm PG and I'm going to a bar for my class reunion in a month, and I'm sure there will be smoking and I'll be miserable. In some cases you just can't escape it. But it's not the fact that she was at the bar, but the fact that she lit up and was puffing away that really irked me.

kayla's mama replied: I forgot to add: It was Kareokee night and she was sitting right next to the speaker. I know for a fact thats not good for that child either. I just wanted to reach over and smack some sense into her.

luvmykids replied: I have to say being pg was the fastest/easiest/most motivating way I ever quit! I truly don't understand how that isn't enough motivation to quit!

CantWait replied: I won't smoke myself during pregnancy, not that I smoke anyway, but I did work in a bar while pregnant. Because I was already working there when I got pregnant, if I had quit my job then I would have had no income during or after the pregnancy.

I don't believe in it at all, and I'm not afraid of offending anyone. I think it's just wrong period.

Bee_Kay replied: Both times, at the first indication that I might be pregnant.... I smoked ONE last cigarette, took the pregnancy test (of course the 2 pregnancy test I ever took were both positive) and threw the pack away.

I hate it when I see women smoking when they are pregnant or people smoking around (especially) young children and babies.
