Shopping Carts

The only time I didn't return one was when I had Ashley with me (she was really young at the time), and it was cold. So, I had to put her in the car before I put the groceries in the trunk. I wasn't going to leave her in the car by herself while I returned the cart. So, I secured it as best as I could and left it. I did feel guilty about it though.

alice&arik replied: If I am close to a cart thing I will. But I think they have to get paid for something. Besides if it is raining I put Arik in the car first and then put stuff in the car, and I don't like to leave Arik in the car to return a stupid cart, with all the abductions. Plus I live in Minnesota where it is really cold in the winter.

5littleladies replied: I always return mine. I seldom shop anywhere by myself-Always have Jas or a friend with me so it usually isn't a problem. When I am by myself I just keep an eye on the kids as I return it.

loveydad replied: I return it. I do my shopping at walmart, so its no biggie. there's usually one real close.... I won't however if I'm not going to need it to hall stuff out to the car- they can deal with that, its a rarity. I usually have someone with me if I have the kids or I'm alone so I can do it.

Mom2Boyz replied: I voted it depends. If it's raining, I always put Conner in the car first, and I'm not going to leave him in the car by himself. Any other time I return it though.

Boys r us replied: I always return the cart. But I never park near it b/c I don't want stray buggies hitting my car.

Kirstenmumof3 replied: I always try to put them back, but DH won't he says everyone else does it! Since I don't drive and I have to catch the bus, sometimes I leave the cart at the bus stop, but if I am with DH, I always put the cart back.

DansMom replied: I return it 90% of the time. If there is an issue with Daniel (such as weather or a tantrum), then I will try to secure it as best I can, but I won't leave him alone in the vehicle. I also try to park near one of the return spots so that it's easy for me to do.

Daniel likes to ride in those carts that look like cars, and in one store we shop at there is a sign that asks you to leave them in the building. The first time I was like "how am I supposed to do that with all these groceries and a toddler by myself?" So I left it in the cart return, which seemed ok. Then DH reminded me later that they have a service where you can drive up and pick up your groceries---someone puts them in your car for you. The next time I shopped there that's what I did. It was great. Unfortunately, I can't afford to shop there every time LOL! There is a markup for great service of course.

My2Beauties replied: I put it depends. If I park near the return then I have no problem walking it over there while holding Hanna, but if it's far away and it's cold or rainy I secure the cart as best as I can and put Hanna in the car before I even put groceries in!!!! I worked at a grocery store as a teenager and to be honest those guys that get the carts (most of them) think it's a great time killer and love to look all around the lot for them to kill time and not have to go in and bag groceries!!! Maybe except in the rain, most of them don't mind I know I would though!

Kaitlin'smom replied: I would say 95% of the time I take them to the cart return, I try and park near them, but if I do have to park further away then I sometimes will leave them where I park espically if its pouring down rain or extrimly cold and snowing

TLCDad replied: I always return it, even when I know I will get wet... But I am rarely alone with Ashley for groceries or have alot of items that I would need a cart. Dee Dee and I 90% of the time go to the grocery together especially when we get alot of things.

Good poll since it is a pet peeve of mine. I have to catch myself calling some guy lazy when I see him leave a cart by his car. Of course if he had a child or something that would be totally understandable. One time I saw a guy leave a cart and the return thingy was like one car away!!! lol

ctymom replied: When I do happen to leave the cart.... I make sure it's up on the sidewalk with the wheels on the grass so it wont roll anywhere. But if there is nowhere to place it safely, then I will walk it back. If Erica is with me, then I take her with me b/c I'm paranoid about leaving her in the car alone for a second. But I would never leave a cart if it has a chance of rolling into someone's car. That's just plain lazy and rude. I get really super ticked at that.

MomToJade&Jordan replied: That depends. The comissary here on base does not have a place for carts, but the baggers usually bring the groceries out for you so you dn't have to worry about it. If there is a place to put the cart I will return it. The few times that I haven't Jade has been with me and it's been raining.
