Shitzu puppy help???

sparkys2boys wrote: So as you know we got a new puppy two weeks ago yesterday. The day we bought him I thought he was sick cause he was sneezing, very filled up chest and his poor little nose was running ALL the time. I would have not bought him had I known but we didn't figure all of this out until the lady had our money and was driving away and we are in the car saying OMG this puppy is sick.. anywayssssss I went to the vet the next day to get him checked over cause now I am scared he's going to die bawling.gif and she told me he had a very bad cold and gave us antibotics and to give him this for a week.

Well, the week is now up and he is not coughing as much, chest is MUCh better but his little nose is still runny.. sorry TMI but his nose will bubble. It's not all the time like it was before but it is not better for sure. Anyone have any idea's? Someone told me that shitzu's get allergies and then I have also been told that some times they have to grow into there noses unsure.gif ??? I am taing him back to the vet but I am nervous wreck that scooter is either going to be very sick and die on us or that the vet bills are going to keep going thru the roof.

lisar replied: I really dont know anything about them, I just wanted to offer hug.gif hug.gif and I hope nothing seriously is wrong with the puppy.

mom21kid2dogs replied: I think a bad cold can stretch on for awhile, especially in small dogs, just like it does in small children. Because shitzu pups are so tiny, though, they can get bad fast so I think it's very wise to get him in for a recheck.

Is is possible the vet will take payments? We did that with Bailey because the treatment for his seizures was so costly. We were well established with her so we asked and they were fine with it.

Hope your puppy gets better soon! KUP

sparkys2boys replied:
I really hope that is all it is. We will be heart broken now if anything was to happen to him.

As for payments we are ok so far, but if it comes to that I may look into it.

my2monkeyboys replied: My Shih-Tzu had a bad cold about a year and half ago. It took him a while to get over it. They are more prone to that sort of thing mainly bc their snouts are so short. I'd just make sure he gets plenty of fluid. As long as he is playing, eating and using the bathroom I wouldn't be too worried about him. It took Charlie about 2 weeks to get over his all the way, so hopefully yours will get better soon. hug.gif hug.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: The lady who sold him to you would be getting the vet bills thats for sure or maybe you should have just taken it back right away and got your money back
Why do ppl. have to be such an idiot and give sick pets to others its so sad.
But then you have to think if you gave him back would she have taken him to the vets to get better my guess prolly not

sparkys2boys replied:
She wasn't a breeder, just a lady that was advertising them for sale. Stupid on my part maybe so the chances of her paying a vet bill would be slim and after I had him for 5 minutes I was attached wub.gif so I could have never given him back and like you said she would have never gotten him to a vet likely. She never had the decency to say he was sick let alone spend the money herself to take him. I just worry that the other pup she had left was sick to and hope that someone bought him and is geting him looked after as well.

luvmykids replied:
Same here, they're sort of prone to those kinds of things. Ours also has terrible allergies, did the vet say that was a possibility? We have to give him the kids benadryl daily and that does the trick.

Crystalina replied:
Whether she's a breeder or not she has no right selling you a sick dog. mad.gif I can't stand people like that. If you noticed that dog was sick as she drove away then there is no doubt in my mind she knew the dog was sick. growl.gif If I were you I would call her and tell her about the dog being sick and that she has some vet bills to pay. If you can show where you took the dog to the vet right away (within 48 hours) then she's responsible for the bills. You as the buyer have the right to either get your money back or keep the dog and give her the bills.

Some people. growl.gif growl.gif

Crystalina replied: Ok, I'm not done!

Unfortunately dogs are looked at as "property" and it's no different then you buying a car from someone and the dang tires falling off as you drive away.

The dog doesn't need to be with her anyway but I'd make sure she never forgot him as she's forking out the money to pay his vet bills. wink.gif

my2monkeyboys replied: How is Scooter doing now? Getting better, I hope?

PrairieMom replied: my mom's dog gets allergies, and it peaks this tme of year. she gives him benadryl. rolleyes.gif laugh.gif it totaly works tho.

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I hope he is doing better now!
