She's pretty sick... - i think...

Hillbilly Housewife wrote: she was congested a little bit yesterday during the day - it got a little worse at night (congestion usually does) and today she slept almost all day. On me or on dh. She hasn't been crying much though - but what little voice she does have left sounds all raw and so pityful.

I feel so bad for her... she can't even cry properly!! sad.gif

She also been nursing like ever 40 minutes or so... emlaugh.gif

She's in a good mood, she's just... raw voiced.... she's been peeing fine and had a poopy diaper today...doesn't have a fever - she's a bit clammy though - so she's only in a onesie now... seems to help the clamminess on her hands and feet.

My poor poor almost mute baby. bawling.gif

I was talking to my doctor 2 weeks ago, about Cameron. He's had a cough for over 2 weeks, and I was getting worried. He was running a fever, and I was asking her if I should take her in to be seen, or if something's terribly wrong. She told me, that the signs she looks for, is how the child is acting. She said that if a baby is running a high fever, but is running and playing, eating and going to the bathroom fine, it's not bad, their body is just fighting off something. But if a child has even a low grade fever, and is lethargic/weak, isn't playing, or lifting their head, then it could mean something is wrong. She said they go off of how the child is acting, not how high the fever is, unless it's 104 or higher. KWIM? If she is still like this on Monday, I would take her in to be seen. If she is having trouble breathing, and is lethargic, then I would take her in.

I hope she feels better. Keep up the fluids, and keep an eye on her fever, and how she is acting. Hopefully it's just a virus that will go away soon. Poor baby!

kayla's mama replied: Poor thing, hope she gets feeling better!!!!!

EvesMom replied: How old is your little one? Breast feeding is the best thing to knock out a cold. My daughter had a cold at 2 months and nursed almost constantly. If the baby isn't running a fever i wouldn't worry too much. Most doctors will say just let it run it's course. I reccomend a vaporizer to help break up the congestion. If you do not have one, sit with baby in the bathroom with the shower running hot. The steam may help baby breath a little easier.
