She's going to the Dr. tomorrow. - & a ? for the BF'ders
kit_kats_mom wrote: I've had it with this puking/pooping thing. It's been 4 days and I can't take it anymore!! She has been acting fine and then POW, all of a sudden it will some out of one end or the other.
This morning I decided that since I couldn't take her to daycare, we would go the library, pick up a few books run to the store and then come home and spend a quiet afternoon reading and playing at home. She threw up all over both of us in the parking lot of the library. This will probably be pretty funny in a few weeks but I was really not happy when it happened. Then tonight we spent 4 hours trying to get her down for bed. She had awful gas (really really really loud) and so she would fall asleep only to wake up screaming a few minutes later. She had two diarherra diapers in a row and now she is sleeping peacefully. That was a tough 4 hours though.
She also has been a nursing fiend these last 3 days. She has nursed so much that I have a blister on each nip and they HURT like the dickens. I checked Kelly mom's site but it's a little late to correct K's latch. I've been using lanisoh but any other tips out there? I'm dyin here guys. And it's not like I can withold them right now either. She needs her hydration and won't drink anything else.
Anyway, I just had to vent a little bit. She's been so healthy that I am not used to this sick thing. I want my happy, healthy baby back.
So I'm gonna spend my birthday at the ped's office hoping to get in to see if there is anything else I need to be doing.
So, this sure did turn into a whine hua? I'm going to bed. Maybe I'll wake up and it will all be better tomorrow. Escapisim? Maybe, but I can dream can't I?
paradisemommy replied: gosh..i'm so sorry..i can only offer you big old i hope k is feeling better shortly..i hate sick babies...
A&A'smommy replied: awwwww ((((HUGE HUGS)))) for both of you!!! Im sorry she is sick i hope she is better soon!!!
MomToJade&Jordan replied: Here's lots of for both of you. I hope that K starts to feel better soon. As for the sore nips I think the lansinoh is the only thing that is going to help. I was the same way just before Jade decided to give it up. I would put some of that on there before the feeding and that helped a little. They really didn't start to feel better until after Jade had stopped. It was odd because I never really had the soreness until then. For the gas you might want to get some of those mylacon drops. I still give those to Jade when she has gas and it helps. I am sending some ~~~Get Well Vibes~~~ your way. Hopefully you do wake up and she will be better.
MomToMany replied: Lots of hugs to you, Cary!!! Poor Kat, I hope she gets better soon! I've never been through anything like that before. For the soreness, there's not much else to do, other than what you are doing, and making sure she's on there right. What an awful thing to deal with on your birthday. I hope there's time to celebrate a little bit!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Get Well Soon, Kat!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I really hope she feels better soon! Let us know what the Dr. says!
amynicole21 replied: Poor Kat That sounds awful. I'm glad you're going to the Dr... I hope they can give her something to ease her misery.
I used to get nursing blisters all the time... Sophia had a horrid latch in the beginning. Actually, she still does, but I think I have callouses now. Ick. No advice as I was never able to correct the problem... keep up with the lansinoh, though... that stuff is great!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: grouphug: I hope she feels better soon! It must be awful! Please let us know what the doctor says! Have you tried pedialight? They sell them in popcycle form now. As for the vomitting have you given her tried giving her gravol? That might help and she might sleep better because of it too! Good Luck!
ediep replied: Oh My Goodness! Poor K and mommy!! That sure sounds terrible! I hope that she is feeling like her happy, healthy self soon.
~CrazieMama~ replied: Awwwwwww, Im sorry she is so sick. Hopefully she will get help from the doctor.
DansMom replied: Boy, that sounds like a nasty bug. Poor Katherine, and poor you!! I hope she feels better soon and takes it easier on you.
coasterqueen replied: So sorry she's still sick Hope she gets feeling better real soon Besides the lansinoh, you can try rinsing your nipples with water after she nurses to get what bacteria she has in her mouth off your nipples. Might help speed the healing, at least that is what I've heard.
booey2 replied: Hope she is feeling better soon. I couldn't nurse but have heard that if you let them airdry and be exposed for a little while after nursing, it is supposed to help. Let us know how you made out at the doc's.
kimberley replied: oh my! poor mom and k! i hope you both feel better after a nap and have a wonderful birthday.
i agree with trying to let them air dry. it does speed up the healing process. have you tried giving her BM in a sippy cup or as a momsicle or BM slushie so you can heal? if not, you may want to try pedialyte just to keep her hydrated.
to you both.
Schnoogly replied: Cary it took a good 10 days for Iain's diarrhea to go away the time he had a stomach virus. The nurse told me 10-14 days is pretty normal. It really gets old though I know! I was Soooooo tired of changing poopy diapers and dealing with cranky boy. The vomiting should be getting better though, I hope!!
And I keep hearing good things about these moist breast healing pads called soothies. I think there is a similar product made by gerber and sold at BRU called "soothing gel patches". They stick to the breast and are moist gel--apparently this speeds healing even better than airing them out.
