Sheryl Crow - WTH!?!?

my2monkeyboys wrote: She thinks we should all try to limit our toilet paper usage to 1 square per bathroom trip. (This is not including those times when you really need more than 1, just to clarify.)
This is to to help conserve trees... less TP being used = less trees being cut down.
Is she really that stupid to think you can restrict how much TP a person uses to begin with? What, would there be an armed guard at the paper dispenser??
What a joke! Why is it that the Hollywood crowd seems to think that bc they are famous they are also smart?!?
I'd also like to know how "green" she lives. I bet she drives a big car, has a big jet, and a big following of people in equally big cars and jets that follow her around on tours. Yet she wants us to use a small piece of paper to wipe our booties with.... what is wrong with this picture?
Some people.... wacko.gif blink.gif mad.gif wacko.gif

OK, I'm done ranting now. I think. laugh.gif

Danalana replied: Oh dear....they'd kill me.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: rolling_smile.gif blink.gif wacko.gif They are crazy!!!! wacko.gif One square rolling_smile.gif emlaugh.gif rolling_smile.gif

Calimama replied: blink.gif rolleyes.gif Makes tons of sense.

HuskerMom replied: Wow that would do alot of good. huh.gif Well she can go ahead and use one square if she wants! laugh.gif

PrairieMom replied: maybe she is just trying to make people aware of how much they are wasting. Some people may use way more than necessary. My inlaws are a prime example. They go through more than a roll a day. A DAY between 2 of them! ohmy.gif That has to add up!

I have to jump on the "green" band wagon. I have an inner "al Gore" that has burrowed its way into my soul, and it won't shut up!

Kaitlin'smom replied: I say we all get the puppy paper laugh.gif to teach us how much to use...3 squares of good TP, the cheep stuff in public restrooms now way I need at least 2x that much. Sure I can use one square but it better be pretty big!

Miranda1127 replied: rolling_smile.gif . omg what a riot. i use the puppy stuff helps dd from waisting, but one square hummmm i think we would all do one of 2 things. 1.) use more water to compensate for the waist on our hands or 2.) walk around with poo poo/pee rolling_smile.gif pee hands. sooo. what to do what to do

A&A'smommy replied:
that totally makes sense

BUT then again saying stuff like that will make people just roll their eyes and move on.. if she would say something along the lines of "alright guys we need to cut down on are usuage" and then something a little more reasonable than i square piece then I could definitly understand!!

Mommy2BAK replied: They're just gonna have to lock me up if it ever gets to that point. emlaugh.gif

StephanieM replied: AMEN!! biggrin.gif

Nina J replied: I square? What am I going to do with that? Why not buy recycled toilet paper? I already save grey water for the garder, I shower with a bucket in there, if it's yellow, I let it mellow, if its brown, I flush it down, I recycle, I try to buy recycled stuff, but I'm not using just one square of toilet paper.

lisar replied: Okay 1 square is little much. I need atleast 1 wrap around the hand.

jcc64 replied: It was a joke, done primarily to get us talking about conservation and global warming. But it was...a joke.

amymom replied:
well, it seems to have served its purpose! ohmy.gif

DansMom replied: Growing up, I knew people who used dried corn cobs and an outhouse... they were definitely as green as it gets.

Kaitlin'smom replied:
the talk on my local radio station said it was no joke.

one of the DJ's is a bit of a germophobia so he said when she comes to town in a couple months NO way would he be shaking her hand.

my2monkeyboys replied: I think it's funny how it was written very seriously sounding on her blog (no little smiley faces/LOL typed in), but now today she's saying it was a joke. I think it may have been one of those things she just said, not really thinking it through and now realizes how idiotic it sounds.
Either way, most famous actors/singers/etc irk me. They should all just stick to what they know, KWIM? rolleyes.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: joke or no joke, if I see her around town you can bet I will NOT shake her hand, maybe I will offer her a roll of recycled TP instead.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well if ya'll ever go to India, DO NOT accept food offered with the left hand. Or anything else for that matter. The left hand IS the toilet paper. ohmy.gif

When I was little, I remember going to my grandparents house (on my dad's side) and there was a SIGN in the bathroom - "4 squares only". They grew up 11 children in a 3 bedroom house, though, so TP went fast. My mom told me when she went there, she always used as much as she could flush, just to tick them off. wink.gif

PrairieMom replied: ya know, you are all complaining about only using one piece, at least she didn't suggest we use both sides! ohmy.gif rolling_smile.gif

luvbug00 replied: I thought this was pretty hilarious. we'd be better off eleminating junk mail that kills several billions of trees a year. I'm sorry tp is an essentail. junk mail is not! rolleyes.gif

CantWait replied: I'm sorry I wouldn't be able to use just one piece per washroom trip, that's gross. huh.gif I do like that she's trying to at least bring awareness though. The general public is more likely to listen to a celebrity then a scientist.

holley79 replied:
My grandmother likes to say how they use to recycle the Sears and JCPenny catalogs. 1 suare is a bit to the extreme but I do try and limit out much I use.

jcc64 replied: I heard her interviewed, and she said it was a joke.

3_call_me_mama replied: Actually I know several families that use cloth toilet paper. just toss it in a diaper pail type thing and wash it like a load of laundry. DH won't go for it otherwise we would be doing it here. However I think it is a bit silly to try and use only 1 square but I get her point... we waste too much in our society.

luvbug00 replied: .

what size are the cloths? and how often do they wash them? and how often do they do laundy? because that could waste water.not dissing just interested. happy.gif
