Shelly, Rea, Jessie or anyone else - who just got over stomach virus
ediep wrote: how long did this nasty thing last for your kids??? Jason started vomiting Friday night and he has vomited at least once or twice a day for the last 4 days . His diarreah is crazy too....
I had this bug a last week, but I only vomited the first night, and the diarreah lasted about 3 days or so
AlexsPajamaMama replied: It didnt last that long for DS or I. I was back to feeling 100% after about 24 hours and DS it was just the first night and morning that he got sick and had bad diarreah.
Hope he feels better real soon!
MamaJAM replied: We passed a horrible stomach virus around the house over the last 2 weeks. The longest anyone was sick was 36 hours (that was me) -- the kids were better within 24 hours.
ediep replied: bump
jacobsmama replied: Jacob is going through this rite now............ Been going on since thursday and I'm home with him today he is sick.
3xsthefun replied: Maegan was sick about 5 days with the stomach bug. She first got it Wednesday (2 weeks ago), she was still sick Thursday but never did puke anymore, she did have some diarreah.
I thought she was better that Friday, she never did get sick anymore. She threw up again Saturday afternoon once. She was fine after that she even ate some dinner.
She ended up getting sick again on Sunday morning two times. At this point I was going take her into to the doctor on Monday. But after she got sick she was fine. She ate, and drank fine.
By Monday morning she was just fine, almost like she was never sick. She ate a bunch and drank a bunch.
Kaitlynn had the same bug but it only lasted little over 24 hours.
A&A'smommy replied: for us lets see Jeremiah had it from sunday morning until about tuesday (just the diareah part) and alyssa from saturday night until tuesday evening. Thats the weird thing all the adults that I have talked to have only thrown up once or twice (except one guy but he kept eating ) and just kept the diareah for a day or so and the kids are throwing up quite a bit more and then keeping the diareah for a couple of days.
Poor guy I hope it gets out of his system soon!!!
ediep replied: thanks so much
The wierd thing is he seemed so much better yesterday. He ate a little, played, even went outside to play on the swings.....
then this morning he vomited, had some diarreah, ate a bite of cereal, vomited again, more diarreah, now he is sleeping. I have been in touch with his doc and he wants to see him again this afternoon
man, do we need some get well vibes for this little man
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Here I am! Wil's lasted about 5 days (7 days until he was 100% himself). He vomitted maybe two days and then had diarrhea once over that week. The rest of the time he had a fever which never went beyond 102 and he was very sleepy. I took him to the ped twice just to be on the safe side he didn't get dehydrated. They checked for strep and ear infection, but nothing. She also said it wasn't rotovirus, but just a general stomach virus (not sure of the difference). There are like a million viruses out there, so I guess it's just one of the million. Nothing to be too concerned about.
Just keep him hydrated and make sure his temp stays down. Do a lot of hand washing. Don't be concerned he doesn't eat much. Stay away from dairy, it will cause cramping. Wil ate mostly toast, pancakes (without syrup), bananas and apple sauce over that week.
When Dh had it, it was only a 24 hour thing, so I guess it must hit kiddos a lot harder.
Oh and about him feeling okay yesterday, but then vomitting again today...Ped told me that this will happen. Not sure why, but they will seem better and then it hits again. Wil threw up again just last week after being over it for THREE weeks...so it's just one of those strange bugs!
ediep replied: we just got back from the doc again and he said that he's not dehydrated yet, but he is concerned about it. He said that he has to drink gatoraide especially if he isn't eating anything.
He did have a few crackers, but he hates the gatoraide so I have to give it to him with a medicince dropper and every teaspoon is a fight
the doc told me that if he is sleeping too much, isn't drinking anything, vomits or has a lot more diarreah than we may have to go to the ER
JAYMESMOM replied: Hang in there. I am still fighting it. Now Jayme had diareha yesterday and that was it no fever or anything. Except she did wake up completely naked this morning. She took off her PJs she must have been hot.
Have you tried Poweade instead of Gatorade it tastes better to me and is pretty much the same thing.
The other thing is the blue gatorade tastes the best according to my kids.
I hope he feels better soon.
luvmykids replied: I agree! Or the watermelon one, they are the only two I can stand.
Try popsicles too. Hope he gets better soon!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Oh poor Jason! Yeah, I would try the Pedialyte popsicles. Wil didn't like them, but some kids do. My sis did say Gatorade is the best because it has the most electrolytes in it, plus added calories if they aren't eating anything. I dilluted it though...do you think he will like it that way?
mummy2girls replied: sorry i just saw this post... Jenna vomitted 3 x's early early sat morning. And then she hung onto the fever for 3 days. The fever went away then the diarreah started but only last 2 days. Then sghe was fine for 4 days and then the fever spiked to 104 and she got croup. She is just finally getting better... so over a week:(
