She won't drink homo milk - any ideas?
moped wrote: So just this week we have been trying to get her switched to milk - she will have no part of it. She likes milk in her cup (but not much) but wouldn't take a bottle of milk. I know some will say to lose the bottle but no, so any ideas how I can get her to drink milk?
mummy2girls replied: is she on formula?
if so this is what I did with Jenna.... the first week add 1 ounce homo into the bottle with the formula then the next week add 2 ounces milk to the rest formula. each week add an ounce of milk to thr forumla until she is only drinking homo. worked for jenna.
moped replied: Yes she is on 2 bottles a day of formula. I told Tom to put half and half this morning and he said she literally spit it right out
I will try your trick tonight for her bedtime bottle!
momofone replied: maybe try adding a little chocolate milk to it for taste or vanilla soy milk taste good if you wanted to try that.
mckayleesmom replied: Russell did the same thing and we had to switch to Soy and he would take that.
moped replied: Good thought BUT i don't even give Jack chocolate milk, so I can't see giving her choclate milk.....
lovemy2 replied: I wouldn't do choc milk - I would start with mostly formula and then keep increasing the milk - it probably tasted too much like milk still when he mixed half and half.....is she on soy formula or regular? Are you stil BF?
AlexsPajamaMama replied: my sil used this trick with her son......and he will only drink chocolate milk, never white milk
moped replied: Regular formula, not braestfeeding
Boo&BugsMom replied: Jen, can I ask why you don't want to trash the bottle? I only ask because if she does take it in a cup, that almost seems like a green light to ditch it, ya know? I think if she is hungry or thirsty, she'll drink it eventually if you keep on it. Does she scream for a bottle if you offer her a cup?
With Aiden we were able to use the soft tipped Nuby's in place of the bottle until he took a regular one. He LOVED his "buh-buh" a lot.
I would try what Shelly suggested. Perhaps she just needs more of a slower switch? Good luck!
Calimama replied: She switched a tiny bit at a time. Then when the bottle became fully milk we switched to sippy's!
Jackie012007 replied: That is what we had to do with Carly... mix formula with milk and then decrease the amount until it was all milk. Even now, I add some sugar free strawberry flavoring, just enough to taste, to get her to drink it sometimes. She didn't get off the bottle until 18 months, she was VERY attached to the baba!
MoonMama replied: I have know advice as Brae just bam took it like it was nothing. But wanted to give you some hugs. She'll get it soon. Like others said add a little at a time.
