She hates her bassinette - UGH

moped wrote: So yeah, not good! i put her in it and she is crying in minutes.......Holley suggested a womb bear - anyone used it before?

they are $35 bucks here - seems like a lot

booey2 replied: hug.gif sorry she doesn't like it, I haven't used the bear but could you do something similar, like wear a t-shirt for a couple of days and then put it in her bassinett when you put her down so she stills smells you? dunno.gif

Cece00 replied: I used that bear...personally my kid found it really annoying. I think it was too.

holley79 replied: What about Babies R Us?

Womb Bear

moped replied:
Yes that is where it is $35

I think I may give it a try

grandma replied: My grandson hated his bassinette too, it was a cheap one, so they ran out and bought him the limo version, it rocked, it sang, it vibrated. Well it worked for a very short period, was it worth it?

holley79 replied:
I didn't think about that.

What kind of bassinet is she in? Maybe also put her swaddle blanket under your shirt for a day and then swaddle her in it. Maybe that will also help. I hope something works Jen. I told you what I did. rolleyes.gif emlaugh.gif

stella6979 replied: Yep, we had the womb bear, but it did nothing for us. Maybe Laila will love it though. smile.gif

MommyToAshley replied: Do you swaddle her before you put her down? Maybe it seems too big and open and she needs to feel the close comfort of being swaddled. If she is swaddled, try doing the opposite and not swaddle her. I put the bassinetter right next to my side of the bed so I could reach over and hold my hand on her to comfort her... maybe she just needs you to be a little closer and then you could gradually move it to her room?

Calimama replied:
Yeah Miabella didn't like it either.

Crystalina replied: I bought one for Boo when she was a baby and she never used it. Evan was too big for the dang thing so he never used it either. emlaugh.gif

MommyToAshley replied: As far as the womb bear... Ashley got one as a present from MIL and didn't use it either. When she was older (like 3 yrs old or something) she liked to wind it up. But, I think that was because it was so annoying...LOL

Boys r us replied: I agree with Dee Dee..try the swaddling. That always made a HUGE difference with my kids, they're used to being confined..so it's comforting to them. Also, do you have a swing. I am here to tell you that the fisher price aquarium swing saved my sanity. Alliebelle was a lot like you're describing Laila to be and the movement of the swing kept her pacified when I wasn't holding her..she actually slept in the swing and not her bassinette or bed for probably 6 months! Hey, you do what works! I also bought a Moby Wrap, she LOVED this and it allowed me to carry her all day and still be hands free. I chose this wrap b/c it was one that evenly distributed her weight and didn't hurt my back and also b/c it has so many variations of ways to use it, it can be used well into toddlerhood. www.mobywrap.com but you can get new ones on ebay for about 15 bucks cheaper and no shipping fees.

lisar replied: I am with the put a shirt on for a while and then put it in her basinet and see if that works. Its worth a shot right?

BAC'sMom replied: My kids didn't like the Womb Bear either. I used the crib wedge with all mine and it seems to work. They all thought I was still holding them because I made sure they were swaddled and snug. Putting an article of clothing with your scent on it in the crib also works.

lovemy2 replied: I used a womb bear with Olivia - I am not sure to be honest if it did much - I have also heard of a ticking clock wrapped in a blanket - could be much cheaper....as for the bassinett part - I would try something that keeps her in closer quarters - try the swaddling first if that doesn't work try a bouncy chair or a papasan chair - Dylan wouldn't sleep in the cradle either but did good in the papasan chair - it kept him a bit upright and also cuddled..... hug.gif hug.gif

My2Beauties replied: In the bassinette I always used a wedge with Aubrey, a wedge and wrapped her up tight, otherwise she was PO'd in minutes. The wedge worked wonders.

moped replied:
Oh I have the limo of all bassinettes!

moped replied: I always have her swaddled - 99% of the day! Big swaddler here - she loves it

Also, I have a wedge for when i put her int he crib - guess I could put the wedge in the bassinette

I got the slumber bear tnight - looks interesting

Kentuckychick replied:
The little guy I nanny for was the baby who ALWAYS woke up the very second I laid him down (crib/bassinet/bed) anywhere but in the swing or the FP soothing glider (and even then he didn't sleep long). It got to the point where I would swaddle him as much as possible (big baby!) put him in between on his side in the wedge with my body still pressed against his and then arrange blankets around his feet to make it seem like I was still holding him. It worked for a while until he wisened up and I just started letting him sleep wherever he crashed! He napped a lot in the swing wink.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I know you're a HUGE swaddler Jen, but try the wedge. I used wedges in the bassinette for the boys. We call them "bookends"! laugh.gif And my sister did what Nichole said, used the swing, or maybe it was the bouncy seat. Only thing her daughter slept in, so she actually put the bouncy seat IN the crib for like 6 months. Whatever works right, as long as they are safe. GL hug.gif

PrairieMom replied: I haven't read all the suggestions here, but have you tried warming it up with a heating pad a bit first? maybe she just doesn't like cold sheets? my little "princess" was that way. rolleyes.gif Oh, and swaddle swaddle swaddle, and if she doesn't like it swaddle tighter. laugh.gif

moped replied: Yes i use a wedge as well - the bear actually kept her in last night for 4 hours

UGH

Boo&BugsMom replied:
Yes, Tanner hated it! laugh.gif Sorry, no help. For Aiden we used a sound machine. He liked that. Tanner also had a Fisher Price Aquarium that he really liked.
