Sexual Predators
lisar wrote: Does anyone have any sexual predators that live in their neighborhood. Just curious. I just checked mine again and noticed that there was one more added to the neighborhood. This one isnt to bad though. He is 19 and apparently the girl was over 16. So that isnt something I consider them a danger to my kids. When it says under 16 or under 12 is when I get all worried.
TheOaf66 replied: we had a discussion about this at work and in a situation like that...it could be 2 high school kids had sex and if the guy was 18 and she was 17 and her parents filed some charges then he is labeled as a sex offender...I don't really think that is right; they are not in the same category as the sickos that take advantage of an 8 yr old.
Boo&BugsMom replied: We have a few around here, but none within a couple blocks I think. Of course, those sites only list registered ones. Just think about the amount of ones that are not registered, or caught yet. Most of the preditors in the county live in subsidized housing, which we don't have close to here. Go towards downtown though and they are loaded with them.
mom2my2cuties replied: I don't know if it is the registered ones that scare me so much. Because they are registereed, I can see thier picture and can warn my kids away from them and watch them should they be around my kids for any reason.
It's the unregistered ones that scare me.
But to answer your question, yes I do have some that live like 4-5 miles away. The city I live in is pretty well to do, and honestly, in this city, (at least my zip code), there aren't any. But I think no matter what the case or situation is (age of girl etc) because even when it seems innocent, it may not have been, we should watch our kids closely.
lisar replied: See I agree with you. I had a friend who was 18 and a girl who was 16 had sex with him and she told her cop for a dad all about it. And now he is a registered sex offender. She was willing and even instigated most of it. We were all there she was all over him. But now that will haunt him for the rest of his life. So I dont agree with his situation. So most of the ones I see with those ages I dont worry about cause if it was rape then it would state that on there. Or atleast the ones I have seen with rape state it on there. But I do agree with you.
C&K*s Mommie replied: We do. One was an old co-worker & friend of mine from highschool who is registered at the same house he grew up in right around the corner from us. It was with a female over the age of 16.
I stay concerned about the ones who are not registered, who are, and those who are simply pedophiles who just have not acted yet. Disgusting!
HuskerMom replied: We had one across the street from us. But the only reason he was one was because he was like 18 and had sex with a 17 year old. I don't think that should count though since it was consentual.
holley79 replied: New law here in the state of Fl you won't be considered a Sex Offender is you are 18 and you gf/ bf is 17. The new wording is under the age of 16.
As far as Predetors go, we don't have any near us. We do have two sex offenders, one being right next door.
Danalana replied: So ironic that you bring this up. One of my abusers is out of prison...and moved into my mother's neighborhood! I just found out yesterday. *sigh* As far as my neighborhood, we live in a rural area (that's a huge understatement), so you don't really see any neighbors.
DillsMommy replied: We had one live in the same apartment complex as we do. I freaked out when I found out. Somehow the manager found out though and he had to move.
Kentuckychick replied: We do have one living around the block from us... other than that there don't appear to be any within a very big radius. I'm not sure what this particular guy did, but he was not on the list for any offenses against children. Not that it makes me feel a ton better, but from all that I've learned and heard in the past many years there is a big difference in the types of sexual predators... in other words someone who molests children doesn't typically start going after adults and likewise an adult who commits sexual offenses against another adult isn't likely to become a child molestor.
Doesn't make what they do any less disturbing though.
boyohboyohboy replied: I had used some site before and found out there is a man two houses down on that list...but how do you find out what it is that he did?
Cece00 replied: Yep, we do.
But he is registered for having sex for an underaged prostitute. Yeah, so I dont worry about him being a danger to my kids. He's s-l-o-w first off (very slow), and it was consensual sex with a prostitute. She wasnt majorly underaged either, like not 15.
That being said, I'd never leave my kids alone with him or near him, but I'm not worried about him hurting my kids, either.
Crystalina replied: Here's a good site to use.
wait a minute. they may charge.
There is one that I used to have saved. It was family watch dog or something but I can't find it.
Crystalina replied: Found it.
