Seatbelt - in a taxi cab?

mysweetpeasWil&Wes wrote: I was thinking the other day as we were riding a shuttle bus at the airport...Why don't they make it a law to wear seatbelts in a cab or shuttle? Or bus? You have to wear one on an airplane and of course in a car...but why not the others? I had Wesley on my lap in the shuttle and Wil was dangling off his seat next to me. The shuttle was driving on regular city streets and could easily be hit by a car. I just don't get it! growl.gif Very scary IMO.

I try and always wear my seatbelt when in a cab. I'm not trying to point fingers at those who don't...only curious. wink.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: I have only ridden in a cab a few times in my life, and that was pre-kids. I did not wear a seatbelt back then in the cab.

Calimama replied: Yes.. my husband is a seatbelt nazi. dry.gif

Nina J replied: Yes, I do. I always wear a seatbelt, I'd rather not fly through the windshield if the there were a crash.

I have a bumper sticker on my car that says 'Seatbelts save Lives' happy.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: I voted yes even tho I only been in a cab 2 times and I was very young
the way they drive in A.C. and Philly and near the airports you be crazy not to lol

My3LilMonkeys replied: I've never been in a cab....we don't have cabs in the dinky little town where I live. emlaugh.gif

Our Lil' Family replied: I voted no for the one time I've ridden in a cab. It was in San Fransisco from the airport to our hotel and I probably should have!

coasterqueen replied: Most definitely! Have you ever ridden in a cab in Chicago? OMG, those drivers will KILL you. They drive like they are in the Indy 500. I feel more sorry for the pedestrians because those cab drivers are going to kill some someday if they already haven't. dry.gif I will not take my girls in the Chicago cabs, at least, for fear of their safety.

lisar replied: I have never rode in a cab. But I do think it should be the same law as to where you have to wear a seatbelt in a car. And on a bus. Yes I think you should have to wear one but I know alot of them that we have here dont have seatbelts.

boyohboyohboy replied: I have never been in a cab, but i always wondered if you can take kids safety seats in them....

coasterqueen replied:
A lot of the ones I've been in don't have them either, but if they do I quickly put them on. laugh.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: I have only been in a cab once and honestly I can't remember. I think I did (scratching head). It wouldn't be like me not too, unless I had too much to drink. blush.gif Maybe that's why I can't remember! laugh.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
Never been to Chicago, but I've been in a cab in Paris and San Francisco! SCARY! Paris was actually the first time I rode a cab and I seriously thought I wasn't going to live to see my home again! Those drivers could care less who's on the street, but heck, they do get you to your destination REALLY fast! Unfortunately, I think they would consider it a pedestrians fault if someone got hit. sad.gif

There are child seats with five-point harnesses that you can take in cabs and rental cars. A friend actually just let me borrow one for our trip...although I didn't use it (didn't ride in a cab). It didn't seem very safe to me, but probably better then just the lapbelt.

Kaitlin'smom replied: the few times I have been in a cab in NYC I did not and not even sure there were in there. wacko.gif now the shuttles if you sit in the very back they had them in FL. I always were mine in the car.
