Seasonal depression in reverse?

Danalana wrote: Well, I have been diagnosed with clinical depression, but that's not the focus of my thread.
I've been realizing that I really dread summer. Light has always bothered me, and I prefer overcast, chilly days. I guess I love cold weather because you can go home and get warm...it's comforting and I crave comforting things. Also, I live in Alabama. We don't get much cold weather anyway....it's mostly summer with a few cool days mixed in, all year round. Summer here is like living in a sauna. There's not much you can do during the day that doesn't involve being in water. Even at night it's burning up outside. And then there are the half-naked people who love to come out to play, making me even more aware of my body. *sigh* I'm really not looking forward to the season change. Heck, it's been 70 degrees for days now...

lisar replied: I am the opposite of you. I love the summer. And here in florida its hot all the time. We have been in the high 70's this week. I cant wait to take the kids to the beach again. And got to the water parks. Good luck with it, I hope you feel better soon.

lovemykiddies replied: I am just like you (the OP). I live in Florida and always struggle more during the summer months...nobody understands it! I prefer it when it gets dark early, is cold, etc. I really like winter.

Danalana replied: Yes! I love when it gets dark around 5!
It's almost 80 degrees today wacko.gif I'm gonna tell Richard we need to move to Maine. Or at least somewhere where we can have all the seasons, instead of mostly summer. Oooooooh, I hear Siberia is pretty cold all the time wink.gif

A&A'smommy replied: Yes summer is alabama is wreched but night time isn't TOO bad.. although I do get what your saying about being aware of your body.. I started dieting again because of it... hug.gif hug.gif I'm sorry maybe you can try to make the best of it!! btw its RIGHT at 80degrees.... yikes...hug.gif

Calimama replied: I hope summer time starts looking up for you. hug.gif hug.gif

holley79 replied: I never really looked at summer as a bad thing but I'm a water baby so always look forward to pool time. It does get crazy hot here so I can see that. I also know about the body image deal.

Danalana replied: Yeah, I relly don't have a choice except to make the best of it.
And I can't really diet...I have an eating disorder, so I either eat everything and don't care (like now) or, on the flipside, I will obsess about everything I eat and exercise like a maniac. I wish simple dieting was an option for me. Or just eating healthy food and exercising on a moderate level.

lovemykiddies replied: Just wanted to add (to the OP), I also have an eating disorder. So maybe it is the body image deal. I always say that I'm moving to Canada.

redchief replied: Look at the article I found.

Apparently the cause of your seasonal depression is already recognized!

Danalana replied: YES!!! Thank you....I'm glad others have the same problem.

laugh.gif EDIT: I didn't mean that i'm glad other people are suffering. I'm just glad I'm not nuts....or something.
