Schedule - Do you have one?
luvmykids wrote: How many of you stick to a pretty regular schedule for the day, i.e. 8-9 is arts and crafts, 9-10 is books/song/tv, 10-11 play outside, etc.?
I was re-reading one of my parenting books that highly recommends that but the only things really regular for us is lunch at 11:30 followed by naps, and in bed by 8. Sounds good but I can't imagine .... it seems like every day our only hope is to go with the flow!
My3LilMonkeys replied: We have a very loose schedule - approximate times for dinner, books, bath, bed, etc. We are not strict to it at all though. My kids prefer flexibility!
A&A'smommy replied: we are trying to establish a flexable one
ions_momma replied: We have a very flexible schedule, and with how busy we are, I dont think we could ever have a set schedule like that.
mom2tripp replied: We don't really have a particular schedule during the day such as when to do what but I do have a VERY strict bedtime routine and schedule. 6PM Bath, 6:30 milk cup, 6:45 Teeth Brushed, 6:50 Books, and 7:00 sharp BEDTIME!!!
lisar replied: The on;y kind of schedule I stick with is bedtime and dinner time. But on the weekends the bedtime for the oldest is whenever and of course I keep the lil on her sleeping schedule, to me it just makes things easier.

C&K*s Mommie replied: Our schedule is so loose, that you may not even call it a schedule. We do have routines, that we tend to stick with. Just not specific times for specific events~ other than nap time.
holley79 replied: Sorry I had to laugh for a minute. Is it at all POSSIBLE to have a schedule with kids? I will let everyone know if we ever get one. One of my books said to have routine even with a newborn. I'm sorry but I think Annika sets the pace and I have to follow.
MamaJAM replied: We have a schedule -- but not a completely rigid one.
With the 3 older kids being in school - and me driving them to-and-from school - we have set-in-stone times when we need to be in the car. Once the boys and I are back home - we stick to roughly the same schedule...but I'm not too pushy with it.
fashionmumofboys replied: We don't particularly have a set schedule per say. We are strict on bedtime, naps, and meal times for sure. The rest we go with the flow.
moped replied: Yep, we have a pretty tight schedule, but not so much with acitvities but more with eating, and sleeping and bathing
Mom2Boyz replied: We have no schedule what so ever. We eat when we're hungry, we sleep when we're tired and we play and do different activities throughout the day. It works for us.
ediep replied: we have a flexible one....such as lunch at noon, downtime with movie at 3pm, dinner at 6-6:30pm, bath 7:30, bed btwn 8-8:30
downtime is a new addition to our day, I stoped putting Jay down for his afternoon nap at 1pm, but he still needs a little rest i the afternoon
sillisha replied: having a schedule is diffecult to do with kids...i keep a routine for my son(8 yrs old),really need to because he has adhd and tourettes,i have set time limits for having important things done like getting ready for school, being out the door to get the bus, getting ready for bed, etc.i even made a chart that he can check off each thing he accomplishes on time.He gets rewarded on a weekly basis(and praised daily) for everything being done on time or in the time limit .But a schedule for the whole day is that possible?
luvmykids replied: Thats why I'm asking! Sounds ideal but in real life .... their old babysitter had a very precise schedule, drinks and potty trips included, and on top of that her house was always completely spotless. I guess she had to do it that way to maintain order with 6 kids, but what I can't figure out is how come she could do it with 6 and I can't with 3? I guess since that was her job she wasn't also trying to do laundry, pay bills, drop off library books, get groceries, etc.
If we get lunch, naps and bed on time, it was a good day!
sillisha replied: wow thats pretty amazing to have a schedule like that including potty trips.......i wonder if the schedule ever got messed up because a kid was sick or had to go another time during the day?lol
