Scary Situation, With a Happy Ending

Kirstenmumof3 wrote: I know I said no more bad news, but this is both good and bad! Yesterday we were at my Brother's Condo celebrating Spencer's Birthday. Claudia was swimming with one of those pool noodles and was having a great time. I left the pool and was just walking around the deck. My sister and I were going into the Sauna. I made the assumption that another adult was going to take over in the pool. sad.gif But I was wrong. I had only been in the Sauna for maybe 10 min. When someone yelled "does anyone know CPR" I ran out of the Sauna and there was Claudia blue and unconscious on the deck. I paniced and I've taken first aid and cpr, but I didn't know what to do. My sister picked her up and put her over her shoulder, she coughed up some water and started to breath. My sister took her into the change room because she was coughing up so much water. DH and I took her to the hospital right away. She was brought in right away and had x-rays taken right away. Her breathing was very rapid and the x-ray showed an inflamation on her left lung. We were given the option of having her admitted overnight or observing her at home. I choose to observe her at home. Today all of the pieces were put together and it was my 17 year old nephew that pulled her out of the water. Today Claudia is fine, running around, playing and eating normally. The chlorine in the water burned her throat, but she says she's fine. We have to take her to see our family doctor in 2 weeks, just to have her checked out again. We are very lucky, very, very lucky! wub.gif

Swood75 replied: Oh wow..So scary!! I am glad she is ok!! I would have been hysterical.. hug.gif That is the only reason I hate taking my kids around alot of water..I always make them wear life jackets even in my in-laws 4' above ground pool...I have to get DD a new one this year though..

Kirstenmumof3 replied:
You know it's weird because her life jacket was hanging in the backporch and we always made our older 2 wear life jackets when they were in the water. DH had packed there swimsuits and towels, but forgot her life jacket. We're going shopping for a bigger one, that is if she will go in the water again, she says she's affraid.

I'm so glad she's fine now and that it was such a happy ending. Ugh. hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif I'm so scared of water with the kids, too. sleep.gif One of the drawbacks of living in FL = pools at every house of every friend we know.

booey2 replied: OMG, thank goodness she is okay. I can understand her not wanting to go swimming again but you may have to get her back in slowly so she can overcome that fear and improve her swimming abilities. KUDOS to you mom for not losing your cool. hug.gif
