Saturday at 7:30 - And I am on a roll

TANNER'S MOM wrote: Wow, my house is really quite.. even the dog got up and went pee and went back to bad. Dh left for work at 4:30 and I of course I woke up, I laid around until 6..

I promised Jen I was going to get my house in order this weekend!
I have done 2 loads of laundry and put them away~ I have completely scrubbed my bathroom from top to bottom.. I have handwashed all my handwashing and hung it up to dry and all my bra's too! My bedroom is so bad I haven't really gotten out of it. I promise its the worse room in the house. Only family is permitted in..lol

How do you stay organized durning the week. I start out really good especially in my bathroom early in the week but by Saturday my bathroom counter is so cluttered you can't tell tell where the counter top is. I get in a hurry and leave my stuff everywhere.. what to do?? Help me someone!

I am hungry I am off to grab some yogurt and water.. I am gonna have breakfast in front of the computer..lol

Oh next question.. why didn't they invent a washer and dryer that get done at the same time.. I get tired of waiting on the dryer when the washer is done..I want to hurry hurry!

C&K*s Mommie replied: Got me on that. That is my biggest GRRR, when I get on a roll with clothes washing. I hate that. I would take the clothes out of the washer, put them in a basket, and load another load in the washer- and create an assembly line that way.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Ha! We are doing the same thing today, Mel!! laugh.gif I've got to get my house back in order. And I have no idea HOW to stay organized. I'd love some tips if anyone is willing to share (ahem...Cary) wink.gif

As for the washer and dryer...mine finish at the same time. happy.gif I have the Maytag Neptunes. My washer has a "max extract" feature and they are basically dry when they come out of the washer. biggrin.gif It cuts down on drying time tremendously. thumb.gif I love my washer and dryer.

My3LilMonkeys replied:
Especially when I forget to start the dryer until 10-15 min after the washer starts....

Congrats to you for getting so much done so early!!

luvmykids replied: I have the same washer/dryer as Aimee.

My grandma had a rule I'm still learning to follow, but if you can do it, it works:

DON'T PUT IT DOWN, PUT IT AWAY! I always "shift" stuff to clear a spot instead of just taking a millisecond longer to actually put it back.

kimberley replied: thumb.gif glad you are having a productive day! i wish the same for my washer and dryer lol. as for keeping up with clutter in the week.. it really only takes a couple of seconds to put something away. it is just a matter of making it a habit. i have one of those cabinets on wheels in my bathroom so it is easy to just pop stuff in the appropriate drawer. now, can you come kick my butt in gear to get cleaning?! rolling_smile.gif

CAMSMOM1 replied: Mel, You inspired me!!! happy.gif I know I need to get some stuff done around here. I always do so good on the weekends, like you said, and during the week it turns into a disaster again. wacko.gif

Keep it up girl! woohoo.gif And I better get started on mine! tongue.gif

kit_kats_mom replied:
Aw geez. Am I getting a reputation around here or what? happy.gif
I'll have to tell this to my mom. She would be so proud that her once messy teenager is now an inspiration to you all. rolling_smile.gif

I do a few things to keep the place in order.

1. clean during commercials. Well, I used to do that until I got TIVO

2. never leave a room messy. Bathroom-I don't scrub the countertops every day but I do toss all of my makeup in a drawer & put my hair drier under the sink. I also keep a roll of paper towels under the bathroom sink which I use to wipe up the water from the mornings rituals. that way there are never any hard to clean water spots.
Kitchen-I put all dishes in the dishwasher after we are done eating (or I wash them and put them away immediately) and I run that every night. I empty it each morning when the girls are watching their shows or while I'm making lunch.
clutter-I pick up all toys and clutter after the girls go to bed. I just like to wake up to a tidy house. blush.gif

That's all I got right now. I'll try to think of more. The thing is, if you just do it right away, it's much easier. I rarely spend a large chunk of time cleaning on the weekend.

Hello and good afternoon!! I hope everyone is having a great Saturday so far...here in Texas, it is simply beautiful, sunny and in the 70's!

Since I'm a SAHM, I really try to keep up with all of the my cleaning, including the bathrooms, laundry/sheets, kitchen, vacuuming ect., everyday so that I can relax during the weekends with my family...I hate clutter, therefore I'm very organized and have a place for everything! Yes, I am somewhat anal. laugh.gif

I seldom have a lot to do because I clean everyday!

I have to say my husband helps out with the housework as well.

TANNER'S MOM replied: I do good in the general house.. but not the bedroom and my bathroom where I am getting dressed everyday and running out the door and yelling at kids to please hurry before we are all late..lol

I can never find anything to wear so it gets thrown in the floor, I then have to change 5x's before I leave and hope my hair is right..lol

Let alone get the kids ready for drop off and hope they have all the homework and everything they need.

I am not messy I just don't have enough time.

But its noon and my house is so clean..except the girls room. I would take a pic.. but I am ashamed..lol

I will work on putting it away as I dress all week. I will give a report next Sat..and see how it went.

C&K*s Mommie replied: BEST WISHES!

kit_kats_mom replied:
Well, since you've got that rockin new body Mel, how about carving out a small chunk of time before bed to choose an outfit for the next day. Everything, jewlery, belt, undergarmets etc.

When I was WOH I actually did it all on Sunday after I'd done all of the laundry. As I was hanging clothes up, I'd hang them together as outfits. I always had 7 so that I would have something to suit every need & mood. Colorful, casual, dressy etc. Then I would go to the closet, peruse the hangers and pick one to wear that day. It really saved me a lot of time in the mornings.

coasterqueen replied: I cleaned my house and did all that last Friday. I managed to keep the house looking great all week....until now. I'm staring at the living room and a tornado must have gone through it overnight. rolleyes.gif

How do I keep up during the week you ask? Well even with 2 youngin's nipping at my heels in the morning I won't leave the house until I've picked it up, or at least the majority of it. Once I get ready in the morning the girls help me clean up my messes in the master bath, then we move on to the master bedroom, where Kylie and I make the bed and pick up. Then after I or Dh has fixed the girls breakfast and they are eating, I'm unloading the dishes from last night and putting them away, making lunches, loading my pump bottle bag, loading Megan's daycare bottle bag and picking up the kitchen. THEN we clean up from breakfast and while Kylie is getting dressed I go get Megan dressed which takes 1/2 the time it takes Kylie to get dressed rolleyes.gif so Megan and I pick up her bedroom and then on to Kylie's. THEN we all retire to the livingroom to watch a bit of Dragon Tales and we don't pick up the livingroom til 10 minutes before we leave for daycare/work. All of this takes 1/2 hour to 45 minutes at the most. Oh and while I do all this I throw a load in the wash, when it's done it goes in the dryer so then when I get home i just have to fold and put away the load.

At night, the girls are in bed, I've worked out, then I do laundry, pick up from dinner, make my bottles for the next day, clean up a bit around the house and VOILA!

Sounds so easy, doesn't it? happy.gif The majority of the time I stick to this unless I'm just really down in the dumps or we are running late. I did keep a better run house, though when Dh was in Louisiana because I had more time to devote to it when the girls were asleep and now I need that time to devote to him.

luvmykids replied:
I go through my closet every month (yes, every month!) and try things on, if I don't love it or feel good in it, it's history. Otherwise, when I'm in a hurry, I try on 800 things and throw them all over the place. This way, everything I have is something I like and know it fits.

Also, the one area I am organized is the closet. Shirts are hung together by color, white sleevless together, white short sleeves together, white long sleeves together. So on and so on with each color. Then when I'm looking for something I know exactly where to look. If it's not there, I move on b/c then I know it's dirty.
