SO MAD - need a vent badly... might be long

We have a lot of pull down shades in our house, and they are getting pretty old, so some don't work right but it's hard to remember which ones. We have a big 3 panel window in our living room and in the the middle of the middle window I have hunge this beautiful crystal butterfly wind chime that was my grandmothers... she died of breast and bone cancer when I was only 7, so I don't remember much of her and have very few items of hers. However I was her favorite and that means a lot to me. So I pulled the shade because it is nice and cool today, and it fell straight down. So i just set it on the couch and waited for Carl to wake up so he could fix it. He gets up, i ask him if he can put it back up... so he proceeds to try to work BEHIND the priceless crystal wind chime that was my grandmothers, and knocks into it, so I flip out, and just as i tell him to TAKE IT DOWN FIRST... he knocks it over, it falls to the floor and breaks into a billion pieces!!!!!!!!!
I AM SO PI**ED OFF... how hard is it to take something gently down and then work on the window???? he knows that is irreplaceable and how i feel about it, yet he is so darn impatient and impulsive that he just works around it like it isn't even there! I dread telling my father, he was very close to my grandma and this is going to break his heart
thanks if you made it this far
my2monkeyboys replied: It's so irritating when people act like that! I'm sorry to hear about the windchime too... I have an important ring of my grandmother's that I won't wear for fear of messing it up.
TheOaf66 replied: well speaking for myself, there are many times when I feel I can work around things etc. I realize you are quite upset and forgive me but it does have something to do with the pregnancy (ask DW about the curtain rod sometime) but I am sure he is sorry about it, it is just something guys do I guess.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Yeah yeah yeah....blah blah blah. You can stuff that curtain rod......nevermind.
Jackie...it sounds like something my hubby would do...his common sense isn't always there at times like this...I think it's men in general...sorry men. I know with Troy (Oaf), he doesn't always think about the details. He just wants to get the job done, and be done with it.
Ok, I realized how that last sentence sounded very perverted, so get your minds out of the gutter people!!!
Jackie012007 replied: oh I know it's the hormones... the best is just now he comes in and he acts like it is just a piece of glass and starts going off on how irrational I am being over an object, so I threw his laptop at him... you know, another OBJECT!!!! Yep, keep digging that hole buddy! I hate men
Boo&BugsMom replied: LOL!!!! Oh Jackie, aren't pregnancy hormones fun?
Jackie012007 replied: delightful! stay tuned, I may be hauled off to jail for murder before he has to go to work tonight at 10!!!
Boo&BugsMom replied: Don't chase after him at Walmart and pee your pants again.
TheOaf66 replied: u threw his laptop
Jackie012007 replied: LOL I haven't gone back to wal*mart since! Yep I threw the stupid latop (that I bought) like a huge Dell frisbee (it's fine) and he's lucky I don't go after the new surround sound system that he just HAD to have with a pair of scissors and a hammer!!!:growl:
thanks guys you calmed me down and got me laughing! Now I am going to go into the kitchen and eat and try really hard not to strangle him
TheOaf66 replied: wow, I am staying out of your way...my DW threatened to throw my PS2 in the garbage and she's not even PG. I REALLY hope you calm down for his sake, tell him he has my sympathies.
ZandersMama replied: grrr men ( no offense to the men on the board)
CantWait replied: IMHO Jackie, you're not over reacting at all. Your DF should have been a little more careful and known better.
I hope there's some way he can make it up to you, or at least realizes what he did and apoligizes his butt off.
luvmykids replied: I know men don't mean to do stuff like that but it still sucks and I'd be heartbroken too. I think maybe some of it is they aren't as sentimental so even though they know the story behind something they don't necessarily treat it with the care we do (sorry guys, jmo!)
My dh once kicked a box of my great grandmas china (on purpose ) that she passed down to me if that makes you feel any better.
Jackie012007 replied: yeah I agree, they have no sentimentality... the only thing Carl gets upset over is all his sports memorabilia but it's because it's apparently worth money ... however he cannot fathom why I would get upset over a destroyed piece of family history that there is very little left of to begin with ... my grandma had very few keepsakes
he tried gluing it back together with a hot glue gun!!! I appreciate the effort but now I have broken, gluey crystal ohhh men
after ripping him a new butthole for 20 minutes, I think he FINALLY realizes that he ain't gonna win in a fight against my raging hormones!!!
gr33n3y3z replied: So sorry that happend
C&K*s Mommie replied: same here. I do things hastily and can make a bigger mess of things, than if I had taken the time to do the proper thing in the first place.
So sorry about the sentimental windchime being broken.
ashtonsmama replied: to your comment to Troy, Jennie!
And Jackie, ALL of our SO's do stupid (or what we percieve as not caring) things sometimes, and mine is included, however much I love him...
Sorry hun...
katie27 replied: I'm so sorry! That must be so upsetting for you! I accidently knocked over a lamp I have that used to be my great grandmother's The bottom part is fine and it still works but the glass lampshade on it broke into a bunch of peices. It is irreplaceable because they don't make them like that anymore. I was so mad at myself! HUGS!!!
