Rolling Stones - is it just me
luvmykids wrote: Or are they a little too geriatric to be doing half time shows? I love their music but Mick Jagger is enough to make me say blech!!!!!! I can't handle the tight pants on a man that age!
luvbug00 replied: HAAAAAAA That's hilarious!! I was like they're the crypt keepers! They are so OLD looking!
MamaJAM replied: LOL!!!!!!
I never really liked their music -- but that show was awful. First off - Jagger was the only one who seemed able to move on the stage...the other guys just stood there (at least they did for the time we had it on...we kept changing the channels).
Also - DD#1 is sitting here and says "What self-respecting, old man wears a shirt that shows his belly button every time he raises his arms! EWW."
C&K*s Mommie replied: NO, it is not just you. I was thinking JUST HOW OLD ARE THEY??
It is not a bad thing to have younger generations share in something that we watched or listened to, or did. Like Sesame Street or Madonna. But geessh!! They should retire one day, really.
But as long as they are able to sing, and make money & still have a following I suppose let them do what they will. But you are right, Monica, they do need to get a new wardrobe for performances. That t-shirt was waaaayyy too small for Mick.
MyLuvBugs replied: ITA!!!
moped replied: I just said the same thing to DH - they should go by bye
punkeemunkee'smom replied: I was going to post that I only turned on the game to see the 1/2 time show and commericals and that was the WORST show ever! They are getting pretty old and I couldn't help thinking that if they were a new group with that sound they would have been BOOed off the stage! It was AWFUL!
My3LilMonkeys replied: ITA!!!!!
Celestrina replied: I heard that their last tour was nicknamed "Antique Roadshow" (name of a tv show on PBS).
holley79 replied: That is too funny. We were all sitting there saying the same thing.
widgetX12 replied: I love classic rock, but ive never been a fan of the Stones.
gr33n3y3z replied: They are Old lol
3xsthefun replied: Wow! I guess I'm only one liked the show here!
My mom & dad really liked the show too, of course they are Stone fans.
Kaitlin'smom replied: IT WAS TERRIBLE, he was not even singing he was talking the song. It was pathetic. My DH is tone def and he coudl carry a better tune the Jagger did last night. Dont even get me started on his outfit
coasterqueen replied: I'm not a big Stones fan at all so I didn't even waste my time with the half show. I saw him being interviewed on something to do with the halftime show and he made me then. Those skin tight pants are so....ugh, someone PLEASE burn all his pants please!
kayla's mama replied: ITA
I'm not a Stones fan but come on, wear some clothes that fit. I thought he sounded beyond horrible. He seemed so out of breathe.

Well, I was relieved to see this. I'm really starting to think that I am just destined to be the adversarial opinion around here. While I thought that musically, it was pretty bad, I was impressed with the amount of energy Mick Jagger has at 62. Yes, they're wrinkly- but they were never known for their polished Hollywood type good looks- they were the original bad boys of rock and roll, y'now- the anti-Beatles. I actually think they all looked pretty good, considering how old they all are. I doubt most of us will be in such good shape at that age. Keith Richards was a heroin addict for much of his career- I'm amazed he's still ALIVE. And maybe a lot of you are unfamiliar with the Stones- but Keith and Ron Wood NEVER moved around alot on stage, even in their 20's. That was a very typical performance for them. Yes they're old. But I much preferred this halftime show to that trainwreck the year before with Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson. I was horrified wayyyyy before the nipple came out. But then again, I'm one of the old farts on this board, so that probably explains alot of where I'm coming from.
mommymonster replied: Considering their age, I thought the show was good. I just picture my grandfather at that age trying to do anything with half of Mic's energy. I had bet my fiance that after the show, they all for backstage for a nap!
redchief replied: They're in their 50's and I'm not THAT much younger
It is time for them to retire, though. Jagger would look much better in doubleknits with sailboats, white patent leathers and a beret than he did in his 60's rocker garb. His voice has gone too. What a shame to see such rock icons rusting away on stage like that.
Watched Jimmy Kimmel live after the news where he welcomed two of the Steelers, Diddy and other celebs in Detroit for the Bowl. Martha Reeves joined the band. Now that lady can still belt out a tune!!!
My2Beauties replied: I thought it was decent for their age as well. My dad called me last night and said I'm younger than them and don't have that much energy, he said I hope I have Jagger's energy when I'm in my 60's! They're legends though! I like their music, I respect them.
