Really stupid question, but...
my2monkeyboys wrote: I am 26 weeks today. On some sites it says I'm 6 months, others say 6 1/2... so which is it??? I hate answering people in weeks, as most have no concept what that means (esp men!), so I'd really like to know how to count the months. I always thought that every 4 weeks is a month, but I've read that the first 2 weeks of pregnancy don't count in that respect. Any help here?
5littleladies replied: I know what you mean. It's so dang confusing! If you go by 4 week months there are technically 10 months of pregnancy. I'm just going by weeks until next Tuesday (the 26th) and then I will start saying I'm 6 months.
lisar replied: 4 weeks equal a month. Techinally you carry for a full 9 months. so if you go over a week then you would be considered your 10th month. I could be wrong but thats how I always heard it to be.
5littleladies replied: No, because many months have more than 4 weeks in them-for example this month is 4 weeks, 3 days. All those extra days add up. If you take 40 weeks of pregnancy and divide it by 4 weeks that's 10 months. I don't know about anyone else but I do not intend to be pregnant for 10 months!!
my2monkeyboys replied: LOL! I am with you!!! I have also heard that you're technically pregnant for 10m bc you go by weeks, not the calendar. That's why I don't know how far along I am in months now... I thought 24wks would be 6 months, so that would make me 6 1/2 m in that way (which I am not afraid to say - at least I'd have a good reason for being so big now! ) I guess I'll just say I'm in my 6th month - that sounds safe, right?
my2monkeyboys replied: I just found this site that computes weeks to months based on your due date... not sure if I believe it or not though as it says I'm actually in my 7th month??? http://www.justmommies.com/get_pregnancyca...gnancy+calendar
What do you think of this??
ETA: Here's another site. It doesn't exactly give the months, but it does say that the 26th week is in the third trimester already?!?!

Here's one more that lists week 26 in the 7th month, too. http://www.birthingnaturally.net/pregnant/mbm/mbm.html
5littleladies replied: It's all too ridiculous. Here is a link that says trimesters are measured in 13 week increments (13 weeks, 2.33 days to be exact) and that makes sense to me. http://yourtotalhealth.ivillage.com/pregna...calculated.html
Going by that we will hit our 3rd trimester, um......Monday at approximately 4 in the afternoon. Lol!!
MommyToAshley replied: I always went by weeks until after the first trimester and then I went by the calendar months. I was probably not technically correct, but it was close enough for me.
Crystalina replied: My doc told me we are pg for 10 months. It helps if you know the first day of your last AF. I know that every Tuesday I'm another week.
ETA: Just round it up if you want. Say your 6.5 mos. If anyones keeping that close of tabs you you they need a life.
my2monkeyboys replied: It is crazy!! I haven't wanted to ask my dr though bc I thought he'd think I am an idiot - now I wouldn't feel so bad though - even most other people have conflicting thoughts on this! I think it's crazy that we'll be in the 3rd trimester in just a few days!
Crystalina replied: I know! If I could have gotten my big butt over my head I would have done a cartwheel when I hit the 3rd trimester.
my2monkeyboys replied: LMAO!!!
