Calimama replied: That's INSANE! blink.gif blink.gif

sparkys2boys replied: Thats just nuts ohmy.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: That is terrible! ohmy.gif

MommyToAshley replied: That is so crazy... I am speechless.

my2monkeyboys replied: It really is... it's so frightening, and makes me so angry at the same time.
I just don't understand how this kind of thing is allowed to happen.

redchief replied: OK, so I've turned over suspected abuse and concerns for the safety of a child over to the police in the past. Never, ever was the SWAT team called in. In fact, when that happens, they usually try to find the least alarming officer available to speak with the parents to try and get them to change their minds.

This is what should happen in THAT case:
The social worker should be fired for not doing his / her job competently (that of contacting the parents with the concerns of the paramedic), evaluating and clearing the docket of the case (the obvious conclusion any trained social worker should have come to).
The Garfield judge should be removed from the bench permanently for signing off on such heavy-handed tactics for a social matter.
The SWAT Team leader should be demoted for not kicking this mission right back to the city court and sheriff that ordered it. He should have known that this level of response was unreasonable and refused to mobilize his team.
The sheriff should be brought up on charges of assault and battery.
The paramedic(s) should be severely reprimanded for practicing outside his / her scope of practice in what appears to have been obvious accident with minor injuries.

luvmykids replied: O.M.G....so freaking ridiculous I don't even know where to start growl.gif growl.gif

redchief replied: I changed my mind on what I thought the consequences of this action should be. The paramedics should have been fired for the confrontation they allowed to escalate between them and the parent.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I'm afraid to read it. unsure.gif

holley79 replied: I am speechless. As a member of the LE community I could never see one of our judges signing an OTTIC for something of this nature. It is a person/ guardian's right to refuse medical attention. The family is not the one who called EMS it was a neighbor. Parent's with 10 children and him serving as a medic I'm sorry but more then qualifies him to care for his child. I am appalled they would use such drastic measure to take a child into custody. Was the father armed to the teeth and made direct threats to LE? I think they are just trying to CYA and it's not looking good for them. For the Police Department to say it's their right then a judge and the SO to "kick" in their door is just horrific. I hope he sues their @$$es off and wins big. I'm not sue happy but in this case it's justified.

Horrible just horrible. Thank God I work in a community that doesn't do something this stupid. We do stupid but nothing like this.

A&A'smommy replied: ohmy.gif ohmy.gif growl.gif growl.gif Thats AWFUL!!!! growl.gif growl.gif

redchief replied:
I agree with everything except the sheriff's (and perhaps the medics' and judges' as well) motivations. I don't think they gave a rat's you know what about CYA. I get the distinct feeling that they don't like him because he doesn't think as they do and he has no qualms about letting them know it. That's a shame. It is in diversity that we learn tolerance, and in tolerance that, hopefully, we shall one day learn peace.

There is a father much like that who lives here, and everyone in government despises him. While the way he thinks is different than the way I do, I see no harm in his different view on the world.

MoonMama replied: ohmy.gif That is horrible!

Cece00 replied: Yeah, I'd say that was a bit of overkill...

AlexsPajamaMama replied: absolutely un called for
they go to these extreme measures for something like this, when there are more important, bigger things going on in this world that need more attention!

~Roo'sMama~ replied: OMG that's just insane! What really gets me is the kids parents did let the paramedics look at him, and the paramedics "found nothing wrong with him" but they still made all that fuss?! blink.gif mad.gif What a bunch of idiots. growl.gif

3xsthefun replied: ohmy.gif OMG! That is awful! growl.gif

my2monkeyboys replied: I think it's sad that this hasn't been blown up by the national media. I found out about this on a small hometown-based website. I wish Fox and CNN would get all over this.

msoulz replied:
Perhaps the inevitable lawsuit will catch the media's attention. dry.gif
