Re-using Drop-In Liners!?!

noahsmom wrote: Im Using the Playtex Drop-In Bottles..(WHAT LIFE SAVERS!!!)
Does Anyone Else Re-use they're Drop-In Liners??
I Looked ALL over the Net and couldn't find one thing saying you shouldn't? Which doesnt mean their is good reason for me not to! But I have been doing this for almost 1 month now.

I Only reuse each liner once, & I never let the milk set in the Liner when hes done with the bottle, It only takes a minute or two to wash and rinse well. So, even though in the middle of the night it may seem like a pain that $8 I'm saving is worth it!
To Make sure I don't re-use each liner more than once I place the bottles I fill back up with water that have just been washed outside the Container I keep my bottles in, that way in the morning I know which bottles are which & No Confusion.

luvmykids replied: I only used Playtex briefly, and I reused a liner here and there. I would guess the only reason not to is that you can't truly sterilize them, but if you don't have rancid milk sitting in them for hours I guess it wouldn't hurt idontknow.gif

Calimama replied: When I used them with Miabella her doctor said in a bind it's okay but not on a regular basis because they are for single use only and can begin to harvest bacteria.

A&A'smommy replied:
Yes they can and just because you don't let them sit doesn't mean that it can harvest bacteria

MoonMama replied: Nope one time that was it. For the reasons above and such. But then again I am an over paranoid, over cleaning, germ-a-fobic, OCD mom. rolling_smile.gif emlaugh.gif blush.gif cool.gif

Cece00 replied: I never used them but if you washed them in very hot water with soap, I would imagine they would be very, very clear & probably would be fine to reuse one time.

Crystalina replied: I re-used the drop in liners...are you kidding me?! emlaugh.gif I rinsed them out and most assuredly re-used them. My kids lived. wink.gif

BAC'sMom replied: I reused mine too. And I am happy to report all three kids turned out just fine wink.gif

Bamamom replied: I never reused but did quickly discover that Parent's Choice (the Walmart brand) is just as good as the Playtex! rolling_smile.gif

moped replied:
Same here!

Thanks for the reminder to get my bottles and lids sterilized!

noahsmom replied: It definitely saves me a Bunch of money noah goes through them quick it seems...He was taking 5ounces every 2-3 hours just a week ago now hes going through this thing where he wants less food but more often....He was wasting many bottles, & formula isnt cheap!! lol.. so I finally just made some bottles with 3 ounces & some with 5..He did just start sleeping 4hours at a time at night!!! =) Wow! thats made a total difference in both of us!
Anyway, I'm glad to see others out there are doing the same makes me feel a little better about doing it! biggrin.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied:
TOTALLY agree with that. We have horrible luck with the Playtex liners. IMO, Parent's Choice liners are WAY better, and cheaper too! thumb.gif Troy refuses to even look at a Playtex liner. We have discovered many holes and they are really shallow, wheras we rarely find a hole in the PC and they are deeper so you can fit more formula in them without overflowing.

As far a reusing them, I am torn. I don't see why you can't, it's really no different than sterilizing and cleaning out a normal bottle I suppose. I have reused one every so often, just not regularly.
