Rant abount kids' snack

ammommy wrote: At Alec's preschool, all of the kids take turns bringing snacks for class. Do you know what the last parent packed...TWINKIES growl.gif Who in their right mind brings Twinkies for a 10 am snack for 3-4yo's? WHO?!?!?!? No wonder so many kids are overweight. The teacher sent home a note reminding parents to try to bring healthy snacks for the class laugh.gif

Now a mini-brag, though. Alec took one bite and asked for something healthy and with less sugar. That's my boy wub.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: ohmy.gif sounds kinda like they might have forgotten and just picked something up. Course it would have been just as easy and cheeper to get some bannas.

oh and wtg alec smart boy thumb.gif

ediep replied: crazy!

Jason gets some sweets at school too

luvmykids replied: Good job Alex, your mom must be doing something right! I know there's no way my kids would've turned down twinkies!

kayla's mama replied: WTG, Alex thumb.gif I hope Kayla is like that when she gets older. What happened to healthy snacks.

C&K*s Mommie replied: WTG~ Alex!!! clapsmiley.gif

I was joking last night about Christian and Kellie referring to candy & the like as "junk". That when (and if) they do the Halloween thing this yr, they will politely say "no thank you, that is junk- it is bad news for your teeth" Maybe it is wishful thinking, but maybe not. tongue.gif

redchief replied:
The least that inconsiderate mother could have done was fried the Twinkies. unsure.gif wacko.gif

ammommy replied:
rolling_smile.gif Then I would have hunted her down and made her watch my son for a couple of hours rolling_smile.gif

kimberley replied: thumb.gif good for Alec! wait til they start real school. James has come home on numerous occasions bouncing off the walls because he traded his granola bar for a cupcake and didn't even eat any real lunch at all! dry.gif

PrairieMom replied:
Now, a GOOD boy would have saved the snack and brought it home to me! rolling_smile.gif i could use a twinkie right now. cool.gif

I would have loved to see that teachers face when she had to pass out 80 tons of sugar to her toddlers! laugh.gif what was that mom thinking? i agree, bananas would have been a better choice.

My3LilMonkeys replied: Good job Alec!!! thumb.gif

mom21kid2dogs replied:
Someone who won't be picking them up at 11, I suspect! cool.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Oh no! Twinkies! puke.gif I've never eaten a Twinkie in my life. I certainly wouldn't serve them to my kids. laugh.gif

Maddie could only have healthy snacks at her preschool, too. We got really creative. biggrin.gif

MamaJAM replied: My girls' school is really STRICT about snacks. They do allow the occasional treat -- but really only for birthday snacks....the rest of the time they only allow healthy stuff. Most of the time - the school provides the snacks once or twice a day -- they often have fresh fruit or pretzels.
