RE: No Sew Fleece Blankets.... - I made one!

Kaitlin'smom wrote: I went to Joann fabrics and they have kits, basically the fleece already cut and rolled together with the instructions. Well they had them on sale so I got one to try.

well let me tell you it was sooooo easy! I love it. Very Cute. I got one for the holidays wth snowmen and christmas theme. I did not take that long either, has 3/4 done in about 45 minutes. had to stop cause Kaitlin woke up from her nap on Sunday, but I finished it when she went to bed. So I would say about an hour total and I was done. Thanks for the idea maddiesma!

I went back and got one with monkeys on it for one of my nephews....he seems to be into monkeys right now, so that will be cute for christmas.

Oh and the Kits are $14.99 each. I have not priced the fleece to see if that cheeper or the same but I got one on sale and one at 1/2 off so they seemed to be a good price to me!

Happy Blanket making all!

amynicole21 replied: I think I'm going to try this!! Great idea! Don't forget... if you sign up for Joann.com you get 50% off one item coupons, and I get a 50% off coupon in every Sunday paper!! thumb.gif

aspenblue1 replied: I will have to try that. How big are the blankets?

Kaitlin'smom replied:
I get the flyer with the 50% off one item, but I dont get it in the paper sad.gif Wish I did.....at least I never see one, guess I should look

Kaitlin'smom replied:
ya know I am not sure that actuall size but my DH (he is taller) cover up with it sitting in a chair, so its a pretty good size....I will see if I can find out the actuall size.....48x60 (in the 'kit') it looks like and that inclueds the fringe.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Wow! That is a great price! I didn't see the kits at our JoAnn's, but they may have them now. I'm glad you made one. I am making one for my nephew, too. biggrin.gif He loves fleece. They are comfy blankets. Maddie carries hers everywhere (around the house) and HAS to sleep with it every night.

Kaitlin'smom replied: they do have some of the 'kits' on-line and you can get 1/2 off today so that would pay for shipping!

I love it, I might buy some fleece and make a smaller version for Kaitlin, so far she loves to play with the fringe on the one I made.....

MommyToAshley replied: It sounds adorable! I can't wait to see it. Maybe this is something even *I* can do!?!

Kaitlin'smom replied:
yep even you could do it! really its not hard at all, kinda fun!

Jamison'smama replied: I made one too--thanks for the idea.

I just bought some cream fleece and some light pink fleece. I have since bought material to make 2 others--I think the 7 inches makes for some pretty long fringe--I may try to do 5 inches with a 5 inch corner cut-out--do you think it would work?

What did you think about the lenght of the fringe?

It was easy--even for me--I think it might be easier with the pre-packaged fleece--I had to spend way too much time trying to cut the sides evenly. I may get that next time.

Maddie&EthansMom replied:

I think my fringe was 5 inches and I like it. So far I have only made one. I agree about the cutting to make it even. It is sort of a pain. Bending over was hard for me too! I wonder why! rolling_smile.gif

Mommieto2Girls replied: What a great idea. I'm gonna have to check it out.

Kaitlin'smom replied: I dont see why the 5 inces would not work. I just got my new flyer and the kits will be on sale for 11.99 starting NOV 2nd! I have to get at least 1 more.
