R.I.P Quincy
mckayleesmom wrote: Quincy passed away about 10 minutes ago. Mckaylee is so upset. She is blaming herself because she accidentally sat on him. She keeps begging us to let her poor water on him and wake him up. The next minute she wants to keep him in her jewelry box. She keeps saying she is sorry and she wants Quincy back.
The kids were playing with her on the floor with the dog. They were all giggling and getting along and the next thing I know Mckaylee plops her dead body next to me on the computer and starts screaming....At first I thought she was one of their dinosour toys.
We origionally thought Mckaylee accidentally fed her bacon and then she admitted she accidentally sat on her.
I have explained to her that it was an accident and Quincy is now having so much fun in heaven. One minute she understands and the next, it just isn't fair in her mind.
She keeps begging us for another one and we promised her another one eventually...we really can't afford it right now.
amymom replied: I am sorry. It is so hard on kids.
mckayleesmom replied: She keeps trying to get me to go buy another quincy right now and I explain to her that we will save up money to get another one and she says "but you have money in your purse"....
cameragirl21 replied: what is Quincy...a hamster?
gr33n3y3z replied: ok is quincy the dog that showed up? or something else lol sorry to hear the bad news
mckayleesmom replied: Quincy was our Quaker parrot
cameragirl21 replied: oh, those are very pretty, sorry to hear that, Brianne. here in Miami, they build nests on the electric poles and essentially live here in the wild. the electric company takes down their nests and gives the baby birds to some pet stores...there are some places here that will sell quakers for only 10 dollars...they don't have to be super expensive.
CantWait replied: Sorry to hear that Brianne Poor Mackaylee must feel awful.
$10 for a parrot. That's not an actual parrot, it can't be. A parrot is actually more like in the hundred area. Much different bird.
mckayleesmom replied: They are wild in some places in Florida, so she might be right.
A quacker parrot isn't all that expensive unless they are hand fed and raised as babies...like quincy....That is why he was so tame....He was about 200 dollars.
cameragirl21 replied: actually, around here, most Quakers go for about $400 but there are some stores that only sell them for about 10 bucks because they were given to them for free from the electric company who took down their nests...they live here in the wild, i see them flying around all the time. at the print shop where they printed my ALS calendar they had a Quaker nest on the electric pole and sadly, it's only a matter of time before the electric company tears the nest down and turns over any baby birds they find to a pet store and then again, it will only be a matter of time before the Quakers rebuild the nest. At any rate, Brianne, if you do want another Quaker, there may be some places that sell them really cheap and also, if you go on Craig's List there may be some people giving them away...some people were giving away free sugar gliders on Miami's CL and boy was i tempted....
C&K*s Mommie replied: I am sorry to hear about the loss of the bird. Even more sad that she is distraught over it.
mckayleesmom replied: I know....now Im contimplating what Christians party at petland will do to her...She is going to want a new pet.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Well get her one momma. I know....
Donna027 replied: that is so sad!!! I feel so bad for her

holley79 replied: OMG Bri I am so sorry. PLease give Mackaylee hugs for me.
A&A'smommy replied: awwwwww poor Mckaylee!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry
CantWait replied: Well at least the pet stores aren't trying to make a huge profit from them.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Poor McKaylee. I'm so sorry to hear about Quincy.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I'm sorry...And I don't want to offend... but with a bird that expensive, and with Mackaylee's track record... I'd have been watching her like a hawk, my eyes never straying off of her. I'm sorry this happened though .
