Quit Smoking Board

BAC'sMom wrote: A few of us on the board have been talking about quitting smoking? No date yet just throwing around some ideas. How ? When ?

Anyone else want to join in or support us?

JP&KJMOM replied: BAC's mom You know I am in but if I have a moment of weakness are you going to drive up here and kick me back in line? rolling_smile.gif

BAC'sMom replied: Sure, are you going to drive down here too? I think that if we ban together we could do this. I am willing to quit I just need a buddy or two. Hardest thing for me will be my Mom she smokes and lives right next door to me. Just going to have to find the will power some how. Trying to figure out if I will use patches, gum and just wing it with tons of candy. I am excited!

luvmykids replied: I'm not quir psyched up yet but I'm in. I want to quit, I'm just missing the pinch of something that makes me think I can. But I'm going to try! Someone pick a date!

BAC'sMom replied: I did in the other post you had. How about April 17th?

luvmykids replied: Ok, I just read the other thread and someone suggested April 7. How's that sound?

I found a great website with all kinds of things to do/have in mind before you quit that looked really helpful, let me find it again and I'll post it for the rest of you.

Now I'm getting excited!

luvmykids replied:
Sorry, posted at the same time!

BAC'sMom replied: Just bumping this up thumb.gif

luvmykids replied: Stop smoking

Ok, this is the lung associations site, they have a great looking cessation program. All kinds of things to think about before April 17!

ETA: You have to scroll about half way down the page to find the stop smoking thing.

Insanemomof3 replied: I am totally in...still. Hehe. I am so bad at quitting (obviously since I haven't yet). April 17th sounds good to me.

BAC'sMom replied: Here is another good link that I have found.

http://www.anti-smoking.org/

You ladies still with me?

lesliesmom replied: April 17th works for me... Count me in!!!!!!!

coasterqueen replied: I'm an ex-smoker here to lend support if anyone needs it too. thumb.gif

luvmykids replied: I'm still in, and I'm actually getting excited! It's going to feel so good to accomplish that, and to smell and taste again and not be afraid to hug people b/c I know they're grossed out my the reek!

salmndr007 replied: I'm here for you too, and I actually quit not too long ago (Jess made me and I love her even more for that). The first week was the hardest for me, and what I did to help was to make sure everyone in the office knew that I was quitting, so not to invite me to the smoke pad or whatever. Instead, when I was feeling a craving coming on, I would just put a stick of gum in my mouth, and go walk around the building for 5 minutes (ok, so I quit a bad habbit using the gum, but let me tell you, I think I am making up for the $ difference with buying gum..sheesh laugh.gif ) Anyway, I am here for you and will be behind you the whole way. Make the commitment and stick to it...do it for your kids, do it for your husband, but most importantly, do it for yourself. You WILL be glad you did.
