Question stemming from the cereal post
5littleladies wrote: What does everyone feed their kids for breakfast (aside from cereal). I am going to try to cut out cereal for the most part from my kids diets and I can see them getting sick of oatmeal, pancakes, waffles, and scrambled eggs real quick. Does anyone have any creative breakfast ideas?
cameragirl21 replied: Well, I'm Jewish so I'm partial to bagels and cream cheese. Especially with lox but I don't know if your kids will eat lox. That and fruit is my fave breakfast. Also English muffins with jam....
JP&KJMOM replied: JP eats a good breakfast everyday since school has started. He goes from cinnaman toast, pancakes, waffels, french toast with powdered sugar, eggs, hashbrowns and he always has either bacon, sasuage or little smokies with one of them. Sometimes he has ceral but still wants bacon with it. I have a meat eater can ya tell?
Our Lil' Family replied: Scrambled eggs w/cheese is a big hit with both Tim and Thomas. Pancakes is a good one too. Grits, oatmeal sometimes, waffles, french toast, fruit. I just gave Thomas a banana nut muffin bar the other day and he LOVED it! I find that breakfast is our easiest meal to think of things.
A&A'smommy replied: We were eating a lot of cereal but I started thinking this morning that I would really like to cut a lot of that out its just TOO sugary. But since she wont eat eggs and she is starting to get tired of pancakes (whole wheat no sugar) and its too hot for oatmeal... etc I don't know what to feed her either I would like to try bagels though i use to LOVE them when I was a kid
maybe homemade apple Cinnamon bread??
1lilpeanut2love replied: maybe french toast or cinnamon rolls.
luvmykids replied: Toast with peanut butter and some fruit, mini bagels, english muffins w/egg, cheese, ham (a la egg mcmuffin), I make mini-pancakes that they can dip in the syrup instead of using a fork, yogourt with grapenuts, and sometimes we even do non-breakfast foods like grilled cheese sandwiches, chicken and rice, etc.
When I do oatmeal I try to jazz it up with berries and cream or I dice an apple and add it while it's cooking, sometimes I use vanilla and nutmeg, etc.
kimberley replied: we rotate between cereal, eggs, pancakes/waffles, yogurt, fresh fruit and toast.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Breakfast burritos (egg, maybe some kind of potato and either sausage, bacon, or some left over meat that we had for dinner ) Waffles Oatmeal and the english muffin, egg, sausage, slice of cheese (like an egg McMuffin)
3_call_me_mama replied: homemade muffin or scones are a big hit here. Also fruit cups with toast or bagels or english muffins. They love when there's a little buffet of things set out and they cna make a plate. AND it stays with them longer than a bowl of cereal and is FAR healthier. Cinamon rolls, toast and PB, mini bagels to dip. We do omeletts some times or egg sandwiches. (basically liek an egg McMuffin). Sometimes they like hashbrowns or homefries and ketchup. (Basically I shred a potato and either freeze them in patties or shred them and kinds form then slightly by mixing with an egg, and then baking or frying. Also breakfast pizza is a hit here. Basically frozen hashbrowns or shredded potatoesarranged on a cookie sheet, scrambled egg mixture porued over it and then shredded cheese over that and then pieces of bacon or sausage ot ham or veggies spread over that. bake teh entire thing at 350 for about 25 minutes (maybe longer .. jsut watch it for browing and the cheese to melt. ) SO YUMMY!
coasterqueen replied: Fruit is a MUST in the girls breakfast diet. They can have anything else they want with it, but they have to have fruit. If fruit isn't all they want then they can have poptarts, cereal (which isn't often anymore since we've gone to organic and they haven't found one they like, lol), eggs and that's really about it. I guess most days the girls just eat fruit and that pretty much satisfies them.
ETA that yogurt or applesauce is a big one in our house for breakfast too.
Boo&BugsMom replied: French Toast Sticks are a BIG hit here. Bagels is also a huge hit. Oatmeal bars, granola bars with fruit, toast with fruit, pancakes, waffles, and cinnamon rolls to name a few more.
Oh, we usually have some fruit too. Always when his daycare friends are here too.
3xsthefun replied: Waffles (Kaits fav), Peanut butter toast, yogurt, scrambled eggs & bacon or sausage, applesauce, fruit, poptarts, and occasionally omeletts.
mom2my2cuties replied: My kids aren't all that picky but this is sort of what we do for breakfast
French Toast w/Fruit Cup Pancakes on a Stick w/Strawberries Strawberries & Cream w/Biscuit & Jam Biscuit Sandwiches canned bicuit donuts breakfast burritos Biscuit & Gravy Sweet Rice w/ Fresh Fruit
Edited to Add: They also like breakfast skillets w/eggs, hasbrowns, ham/bacon/sausage, cheese. I also feed them Velvetta eggs, Oatmeal, and that sort of things.
ZandersMama replied: wheat tortillas rolled up with PB and J in them Mommy likes them too lol
Jamison'smama replied: Sausage Biscuits and Sausage Egg and Cheese Croissants, mini pancakes, eggs on a raft--for Jack, Jama is allergic. Jamison sometimes eats soup for breakfast or even a sandwich if she wants.
