Question - selecting

gr33n3y3z wrote: If at birth you could select the profession your child would eventually pursue, would you do so?

luvmykids replied: No. If it just so happens that they love what I think they're best suited for, great but otherwise their life is their own and I just hope to be able to equip them to pursue their dreams and passions.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Oh absolutely not. There's no fun in that. tongue.gif
ETA: I think most people choose their professions on what life experiences they've had. wink.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: How about I just remove 2 professions from his possible choices? I don't want him to be an attorney or a doctor. At least not one of the jerk doctors I deal with. And one attorney in the family is plenty.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Nope. As long as it's nothing illegal or immoral, I want my kids to grow up to do something that they enjoy and hopefully something they feel called by God to do. happy.gif

PrairieMom replied:
I would go along that route too. Things I wouldn't want them to do. Dr's are at the top of the list. rolleyes.gif

redchief replied: I just want them to be happy in what they're doing. I don't think we could have chosen well for them as youngsters, because they all changed as they grew and with those changes their interests and what was important to them changed as well. I do wish I could feel more secure about helping them get what they want, though.

redplaydoh replied:
What's so bad about being a doctor?

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: When you work in the lab, you see the side of doctors no one gets to see at bedside. Namely, demanding, sense-of-entitlement jerks.

redplaydoh replied: I worked in a Cardiac ICU for years, and worked in hospitals from the ER department to surgery for 12 years. While some doctors are real jerks, many are not.
I think I see more snobbish attitudes in stores like Best Buy where every employee thinks they know it all, especially regarding computers.... and think the customers are total dimwits. I can tell you that they aren't being woke up 10 times a night like doctors are.

gr33n3y3z replied:
I see that here also Kelly and I dont work with them
Its the attitude they have like they are the gift from God and the nose up in the air.

But I also see many Dr's that are great also

Boo&BugsMom replied: As long as it's nothing illegal or immoral, they can be whatever they choose, and I wouldn't have it any other way. biggrin.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: nope. Too many obstacles already that they will have to overcome as women, and as bi-racial children already. I would not want to put any more limits on them, or to dictate thier outcome for the future. I believe only they can do that for themselves. I am striving to raise my girls to be the best possible women/humanity lovers that they can be, that is just one constant "choice" I will have made for my girls.

gr33n3y3z replied: no I wouldnt

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Mostly I was joking. I'll be happy with whatever Logan chooses, as long as he's happy. Although, I would rather he not be an attorney, there is a LOT of stress involved and it does tend to overflow into family life.

redchief replied: I would just like to make sure they're making plenty of money for two reasons. One, I could spend their inheritance. Two, they're going to choose my nursing home, so I'm hoping for a good one. rolling_smile.gif emlaugh.gif
