Question for those that have - adnoids out.

TANNER'S MOM replied: Well I haven't done it but Tanner has.. He has been alot more healthy sense he did. He snored so loud and breathed so loud. He had that thing were you stopped breathing durning your sleep.

It didn't solve all his problems but it did solve alot of them.

OH.. that's me too. I snore terrible or so says DH. Hmm.. I am thinking maybe a need mine out.

mckayleesmom replied: I had my adnoids taken out when I was around 6 or 7 . My parents noticed something wrong when my hearing kept deteriorating. When they were still consulting with doctors my hearing had actually become almost non existant. I don't remember having a sore throat and initially they thought my tonsils were causing it. I actually went into surgery for my tonsils to be taken and in the middle of the surgery they realized the true problem. I remember having the tv volume up to the max and still not being able to hear it.

mckayleesmom replied: Just wanted to add....till this day I still have hearing problems....Usually I lose all hearing in one of my ears when I get a cold....

My3LilMonkeys replied: I was having ear infections a lot...like 2, 3 times a month. They didn't know if it was the tonsils or the adenoids, so they just took both.

redplaydoh replied: Usually they take both out together. Although it is very common for them to grow back. My BIL even regrew his tonsils. I'd check with your doctor definately.

I still have my tonsils.....They only took my adnoids.

Swood75 replied: Well,BOTH of my kids have had theirs out..DS also had his tonsils out too..But with DS he was snoring and breathing really LOUD... Couldn't breathe through his nose at all (this went on for 6 months,needless to say I switched Peds) went to an ENT and told him the symptoms etc and they did an x-ray..His adenoids were so enlarged that his whole airway to his nose was completely blocked his adenoids were so swollen..But,it "seems" like I remember the Dr telling me that after about 8-10 yrs of age they disappear..But my memory isn't to great so I would double check..Good luck and I hope you feel better soon...P.S. I also have quite a few sore throats due to sinuses draining and it usually ends up being a sinus infection..

TheOaf66 replied: usually when the take your tonsills they take the adenoids too, however for some weird reason mine grew back and I had to have them out again. Usually the adenoids have to do with your breathing, the sinus drainage might just be your sinuses.

redchief replied: I had my tonsils and adenoids out when I was a child due to chronic ENT infections. My adenoids grew back partially, which surprised the doctors considerably.
