I don't mine a short drive but dont want to spend all day driving! I am going to KY this weekend probably and travel through part of WV to get there I want some great fall pics with pumpkins and such and my kids have never been to a pumpkin patch or corn maze or any of that fun stuff! So any one know of any?
My2Beauties replied: Well there is one about 20-30 minutes from here in Indiana, I'm in Louisville Ky
momtoMegan&Alyxandria replied: You need to check out Fulton Farms and also Young's Dairy Farm. They both have cool stuff do this time of year. I know there are more, but I am not sure of their names.
Crystalina replied: I'm in Southeast Ohio and we always drive to Shumackers Farm. I'm thinking it's in Barnesville but I can't remember. I'll have to ask dh when he gets home.
Kaitlin'smom replied: I dunno all the names but there are some more like in centerville/waynesville area.
Kentuckychick replied: I'm not sure which parts of Kentucky you'll be in but we always go to either Evan's Orchards which is in Georgetown, http://www.evansorchard.com/ or Boyd's Orchard in Versailles http://www.boydorchards.com/
DillsMommy replied: I had no idea you were from Louisville. Me too!
mom21kid2dogs replied: Danah~ There are tons closer than you think! Logan has one with tractor rides and a corn maze. (PM me if you want directions) Up the road a bit on 33 is Sharp's Farm~HUGE operation (about a 40 minute drive for you) with wagon rides, very large corn maze, pick your own pumpkins, etc. A little further up the road on 33 is Dill's Greenhouse (about an hour for you~take the bypass around Lancaster if you do this one). They have all kinds of stuff but are only open to the public on weekends as they do school groups during the week. Of course, Cedar Point and King's Island have Halloween themed doings but they aren't very appropriate for younger kiddos. We're headed to the Circleville Pumpkin show this weekend. Runs through Sunday. Very crowed as a rule but pretty fun. Bob Evans Farm Festival is also pretty neat, but it was last weekend. A question for you~did they ever open the haunted house at the middle school? I heard it might not open this year but never heard if it did.
MommyToAshley replied: I don't know about Cedar Point, but King's Island actually has a thing for kids too. KI has the Nick or Treat during the day 11-5, and then the scary Haunted event (forget what they call it) for adults in the evenings starting at 7pm. (weekend only). The kids event has trick or treat stations where the kids get candy, kids can ride a train over to the pumpkin patch and pick out a pumpkin (a small one) and come back to the decorating station to decorate it, then they have a magic show and some characters walking around. And, of course, all the usual rides are open. We went last weekend... I thought it was ok, but most importantly Ashley had fun. We have season passes so it didn't cost any extra, but unless you have a pass, I don't think I'd pay extra for just this event.
Thanks Cheryl for all the places in the area, I will have to check them out. We used to go to Bonneybrook farm every year and then they sold it to be developed for an apartment complex. I am sad, We loved that place.
Kaitlin'smom replied: yep kaitlin had fun at KI she went though the big top maze I think 5 or more times
there is another one I used to go to but cant for the life of me remember the name, I think its in wanysville you go down 48 and then turn right (and I cant remeber the name where you trun but on the other side of the street is a western shop) and it was down on the left.
My2Beauties replied: Really. That's so funny. Yep another Louisvillian to share the board with! The one I was thinking of was Huber's Farm. They are having their annual barnyard bash on the 28th.
mom21kid2dogs replied: There's also Boo at the Zoo by the Columbus Zoo. It's every weekend through October. They feed some of the animals pumpkins, have treat stations, people in costume, decorations, etc. We generally go to that too. It's very fun.
danahas4monkeys replied: Thanks everyone!
Cheryl no they didnt open the haunted house at the middle school they moved it I saw the signs today to turn over by rocky boots so I guess they moved it!
