Question about snakes
lisar wrote: I have heard that rattle snakes like to hang around black berry bushes. Does anyone know if this is true or not? If it is true then I am cutting ALL of mine down and digging them up. Thanks yall.
sparkys2boys replied: I would so be outta there..lol. I hate snakes. Sorry no advice but wanted to say that I hate snakes to
lisar replied: I agree the only good snake is the dead one in my eyes.
sparkys2boys replied: You said it! I cant imagine living someplace that has deadly snakes.. we have garter snakes here and I have seen two in my life..lol. And trust me it was enough for a lifetime!
lisar replied: Oh yea garter snakes here are things some people will catch and play with. We have I think its 7 diffrent poisonois(sp??) snakes here in florida. And I have seen propaly 5 of the 7 in my life.
sparkys2boys replied: PLAY WITH.. omg I cant imagine. And as for you I would be moving, I couldnt let the kids out to play in the yard.
lisar replied: I know I know. Its not as BAD as I probably make it sound. And they DONT go outside without an adult for this reason. But we have cats to try and keep them away and Cassie runs around out there and if there were a snake out there then cassie would smell it and start going nuts. So thats always a good sing for me. Ofcourse I would HATE to loose another dog to another snake. And where the kids play we have never seen a snake there ""Knock on wood"" but I always check on and around all of the play toys before I let them on them to play.
luvmykids replied: I don't know, but I think snakes in general like low lying bushes with lots of leaves. We had a bullsnake last summer that was guaranteed at any given moment to be found under one of my lilac bushes, and a neighbor told me rattlesnakes like to hang out under the gourds.....I avoid all those areas at all cost
sparkys2boys replied: Oh gosh Lisa, have you had a snake get a dog before? Oh wait, I think I remeber you posting about this. And cats are good for snakes?? I never heard this before but then again we dont have snakes here.. thank heavens.
luvmykids replied: My new neighbor across the road said she's getting a llama, she says they kill snakes
I also need to figure out how to keep the roadrunners around after all, apparantly they're quick enough to kill rattlesnakes too.
DH thinks he is going to get me to Georgia by telling me how fun it is, how great the lake is but he made the mistake of telling me about all the cotton mouths
holley79 replied: Snakes in general will just hang out in any time of foliage. Not just black berry. We would find baby rattlers in the mulch under the azelas when I lived in central FL.
Calimama replied: If I were a snake I'd hang there. I like berries.
lisar replied: Oh yes those things are deadly. The like the water so it would have to be wet where you are.
luvmykids replied: It's not wet in general where he is, he's just talking about the lake. I will not be doing any waterskiing
msoulz replied: I thought your question was going to be if snakes can pop out of a toilet and bite you!
austins mom replied: Patrick said yes they do...
My3LilMonkeys replied: Like most snakes, they like dense foliage, so blackberry bushes are good for them - but so are lots of other bushes.
Also places with holes/crevices, like brush piles, stone walls, etc....my dad used to hunt rattlesnakes (I live in hickville where we have a yearly rattlesnake roundup ) so I've been around them quite a bit.
Cece00 replied: Have I mentioed I HATE SNAKES??
Note to self: Have DH dig up all foliage in the yard.
punkeemunkee'smom replied:
They do hang out where there are low lying leaves and brush in the summer because they stay cooler that way I HATE snakes! It would make sense to me that they would be around a berry bush since I guess that probably attracts mice and small animals too.
ZandersMama replied: so there is one good thing about it being so freakin cold here that all plants are dead I hate HATE HATE snakes.
kit_kats_mom replied: The only snake I've seen here in my yard in Central FL, is the brown pine snake in my mailbox.
Of course, I have the gators though. LOL
