Question about gameing stuff /whatever its called

Crystalina wrote: So I've talked to the fat guy (Santa) and he's thinking about getting the kids a wii but I was wondering if one of those other gaming things are better? I don't really want any of them in the house but the kids really want it and i've taken their satellite t.v. away (beacuase I don't see the sense in the bill and they only watched junk anyway). So I will give in to the gaming for now but I don't know which to get. We played the wii once at my moms and I really liked it. I got one heck of a work-out kicking DH's butt in boxing (until he layed me out flat dry.gif ).

Any suggestions? I know nothing about any of it. rolleyes.gif

moped replied: We have wii and Jack REALLY likes it. Him and Tom play all sorts of things. He isn't addicted by any means, and I do think it is a good thing for both kids and yourselves as well.

I recommend the MarioKart

YOu get the Wii Sports iwth it so that should be a good start.

I want to get the new Wii active this year.

I do think it would be good!

GO FOR IT!

boyohboyohboy replied: we have had the xbox and the ps2 and now we have a wii and the wii is far better in my opinion, also you dont just sit on the couch and play alot of the games are active games..
there are also a lot of games for the kids to play that I like better then the fighting games that we dont allow.

we have diego and the kids really have to make the motions to make diego go.
and we have mario cart and mario gallaxy is fun.
and others

bluebear replied: Get the Wii. My 4 year old cousin loves it and is getting it this week (because he was good for x amount of days) and the price just dropped to $200. Wii Sports Resort is a very fun game.
xbox and playstation are more shooting games. not what I would want a child playing.

Calimama replied: I would def get the Wii. We have pretty much every system out here, and the Wii is the best!

My3LilMonkeys replied: I think the Wii is the best for kids by far. It is the most active and has the most games that are child friendly. Even Madison who is a very uncoordinated 4 year old can manage to play bowling and some of the Wii Fit games. Also at the time we bought it (price points may have changed since then) it was the cheapest.

Crystalina replied: Oh! I think the Wii's have it! cool.gif I wanted that more then the others (because I need to practice kicking dh's butt!) but I didn't want to buy it because *I* wanted it. I wanted what they would get more use out of because I don't plan on buying another for quite some time. I just know that with winter coming up they will get bored inside and my Blockbuster bill is exceeding what my t.v. bill was! blink.gif And really, there is only so much "together" time before you just want them to GO AWAY for a little bit. emlaugh.gif ( unsure.gif Did I just type that?? happy.gif )

Does the wii have any quiet games or is it all jumping around and stuff?

bluebear replied: Yes! Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, there are some games from movies (Cars, etc..) Wii Music...

Crystalina replied:
Cars? Really?! Evan would LOVE that! That's his favorite movie and my little nephew has it and whenever we go over for a visit Evan makes a bee-line for that game. LOL

Ok, my mind is made up. THANKS SO MUCH! biggrin.gif

moped replied: Yes we have 2 different Cards games, Jack LOVES them!!!!!!

youngmomofone replied: For kids I would go with the WII. we have both the wii and xbox 360, and the wii is more kid friendly. Dh and I love 360 and havent touched our will in 3 months (only played with it 3x when we bought in May, haven't touched it since late June laugh.gif ). Dd is more interested in computer games, so she doesnt even play the wii.

MommyToAshley replied: The Wii is good for younger kids, but the graphics are a real turn off for older gamers, I think. It's great for people who normally do not play video games. Ashley beat a couple of the games on the Wii but I don't think we've turned it on but maybe once in the last three months.

The Xbox 360 is the perfect gaming system for a variety of people including kids and hardcore gamers. They have games geared towards kids but also games for the bigger kids (including DH). Xbox360 probably has the best online features and has the most titles available. We probably spend most of our time using the Xbox 360 when it comes to gaming.

The PS3, I think is the best overall system for the hardcore gamers and you also get the Blu-Ray player. The PS3 has the best overall graphics and their exclusive game titles are pretty awesome, but I think less people have PS3's and they don't have many titles geared towards kids (but they are starting to come out with more kdis titles). DH probably spends the most time on the PS3. But, we do use it to watch blu-rays all the time.

So, I guess it depends on who you are buying it for and what you want to get out of it.

redchief replied: Wii is a good choice. Take up bowling!

my2monkeyboys replied: We LOVE bowling on the Wii -- super fun!

coasterqueen replied: I'm all for the Wii because it gets the kids more active. I'm not keen on the gaming systems where you use mostly your hands to do all the activity as who wants to suffer carpel tunnel before your 20? laugh.gif I'm sure that doesn't happen to kids, but I can see some serious hand issues if they are using them all the time, starting at a young age. Just my uneducated opinion, though. happy.gif My kids don't do a lot of gaming, as we promote more outdoor, etc, type of play. We have some sort of Nintendo system (i have no clue as I'm not interested in it) and Ryan bought the girls some games on there and since they don't play much they get frustrated with it. We recently got the Wii and the girls absolutely love it - it's a lot more kid friendly for those kids who don't get to game a lot. thumb.gif
