Question about crawling
Danalana wrote: Okay, Kade is 7 months and 12 days old. He is very strong and can sit unassisted now. But he has absolutely no interest in getting on all-fours. He is content to lie in the floor on his belly and play with whatever is close to him. He will pivot around and even scoot with his face on the floor, but he just doesn't try to push to his hands and knees yet. Should I be worried? Is there anything i can do to encourage him to do it?
mckayleesmom replied: I wouldn't be worried, all babies are different. Mckaylee scooted on her back for the longest time to get to where she needed to go.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: Alex did an army crawl for a long time, pulling himself along with his arms and dragging his legs. Dont wish your baby to grow up faster than he is! Once they get going its all over you will never be able to keep him still!
ZandersMama replied: zander never "crawled" he would use his arms and kind of swing his butt, he looked kind of like a crab no worries, kids do things there own way. he crawls now though with zavier
Kaitlin'smom replied: nope dont worry, in time he will or he might be one that skips it and goes right to walking.
A&A'smommy replied: I agree don't worry about it I had a cousin who went from rolling around in circles to walking he never did crawl.
lisar replied: Lexi started crawling with her face on the floor. It used to drive me insane cause she would get rug burn from it. But I couldnt stop her. Maybe thats what he is gona do.
msoulz replied: Yep, my niece (who was actually talking at 12 months but not walking) never crawled - she scooted around on her butt! It worked for her. And Erin rolled around before she crawled. They find their way once they see something they want!
Boo&BugsMom replied: Tanner didn't crawl until he was almost 10 months old. Aiden crawled at about 6 months. They are SO different.
If you do want to assist or help him though, you can use your hand under his belly to support him and prop him up while he is in a crawling position. Sway or move his arms and legs back and forth (like he's rocking himself back and forth on the floor while on all fours) all while your hand is supporting him under his belly. We had to encourage Tanner any way we knew how when he was this small. That child was so unmotivated. He did eventually cave to the peer pressure.
Crystalina replied: My little sister and brother never crawled. They went from laying down to walking.
If you want to get him going you can sit him away from his toys or bottle or sippy cup or snack. If he wants it bad enough he will get to it. If your sitting his things around him he has no need to move.
Also, don't get him crawling too soon. He'll never be the same.
DH has a saying: We spend the first year teaching our kids to walk and talk and the next 17 years telling them to sit down and shut up.
