Question about Ebay

mysweetpeasWil&Wes wrote: So I bought my first item by myself on Ebay on 12/08, it's something for DH's birthday. I won the auction and paid for it via Paypal that day (12/08). I saw it cleared from our account on 12/10. Still no shipment (today is 12/17). I emailed the seller this morning and still no response. I asked her when/if it has been shipped.

I'm wondering...My account says "need to leave feedback", does this mean I need to give feedback before getting my item? I know that doesn't seem to make sense, but it got me wondering that maybe she is holding the item until I give her feedback. Also, is there a way of tracking the shipment? I can't even tell if it's been shipped yet, and like I said, the seller hasn't got back to me. I'm getting a little worried, but maybe snail mail is just extra slow right now. Ugh. I need it by Friday at the latest. sad.gif I think she said it would ship right away.

Maybe I'm just being impatient...... happy.gif

Calimama replied: NO don't leave her feedback until you've gotten the item and you've seen what condition it is. On the item does it say how soon it'll be shipped? I would email her and ask her when it's going to be shipped!

ETA: Doesn't paypal send an email saying it's been shipped with the tracking number? They usually do for me.. so she probably hasn't shipped it yet.

MoonMama replied: No you do not leave feedback until after you get the item and check out, then you leave feedback based on how the item is. I would email the seller, give him or her 24 hours to respond email one more time, if nothing still make a claim with Paypal.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
I'll have to go back and look, but I swear it said ships right away. I guess that could mean any time, huh? blush.gif And yeah, that's exactly what I emailed her...but still no response after several hours. growl.gif

Anthony275 replied: don't leave feedback until after the seller gives you it. sometimes it takes awhile for you to get it especially this time of year, you know?

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
Okay, thanks for the tips. I'm so clueless about this stuff. I'm doing it on DH's ebay account, so I told him he can't check it, and I have to be sure the seller doesn't email him. Which I asked her not to. I checked his email account to see if there is a "shipping" notice, but there is nothing there. Hopefully he didn't see it and erased it without me knowing. mad.gif

Sorry to say, but if your DH's email addy is the one on the account, that's probably where her response will go. My DH has his own account and I've asked on few occassions to reply to my email but was told that wasn't allowed. I'm not sure if that's true or if they were just being jerks though. dry.gif
Good luck! I hope you get it by Friday! smile.gif

amymom replied: I think you need to give her/him a little bit of time to reply to your email. How far away from you are they? Another time zone and it could be just a bit before she replies. Give her at least 24 hours to reply.

Good Luck, I am sure it will all be fine.

Crystalina replied: When I'm selling I leave feedback as soon as I get paid but yeah, you want to make sure you get what you paid for before leaving feedback.

Usually it takes about 7 days for shipments to get out and Ebay (I'm pretty sure) won't do anything at all unless it's been over 30 days since and items been paid for (and you still haven't received it).

Is this seller a high volume seller? A lot of those kinds of sellers don't get back with you because they have so much going out at one time. If it's an individual who only has a little store or a few items usually they get back with you right away. And always check their feedback before buying from them. I'm not saying you don't know that but for anyone who doesn't. smile.gif

Hope you get your item soon!

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
I know, I totally should have setup my own account. blush.gif I can never sneak one by him, he ALWAYS knows what I'm getting him. I told him he can't check our credit card statement this month either. But typically I just use cash to buy his gifts so that he won't know. Ebay doesn't work so well for surprises. dry.gif

Still no response. I don't know where she lives, would have to look again. I'll be more patient....Promise. unsure.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
Good to know, thanks! I think she had positive feedback, but truthfully, I was so happy to get a NEW Harry Potter audiobook for only $31, including shipping, that I probably overlooked it. They wanted around $75 for it at Barnes & Noble, not even including tax, so I got a steal! That is if I even get it. tongue.gif

luvmykids replied: I buy A LOT on ebay and have never had a problem, sometimes they don't get back to you right away because, like Crystal said, they have soooo much going out. Most are really good about sending them right away though, especially this time of year, so I'm sure it's on the way to you.

I'd see where she's located and look at your listing again, see if it said Priority Mail or Standard. Also, you only get the Paypal shipping notice IF the seller uses paypal to manage their shipping....many do, but some don't.

lovemy2 replied: I beg to differ on the leaving feedback BEFORE you get an item - I had the same problem with a seller - two weeks after it had cleared my account it still hadn't shipped - I had emailed several times during that time - finally I left negative feedback - that got their attention - they sent back a thing asking me to take back my negative feedback and I told them I would once I got my item - I got it in about two days - now mind you this all took at least a month to happen - too long IMO - so if you give it a reasonable amount of time and don't hear back from them I would leave the negative feedback - you can take it back later if they request you too....
